I am trying to put back together the belt lifter on the heritage II I picked up. There appears to be two metal rings behind the plastic lifter knob, then on the inside there is the metal belt lifter piece itself. There also appears to be a plastic ring with two flanges on it and I am puzzeled to no end how to reattach the lifter assembly. If anyone can help I would be very happy!

This should help see what order the parts go in.

Awesome!!! Thanks so much!!! The 2nd boggling issue for the night is how to remove the motor casing, this is the first time I have worked on a newer Kirby. Typically I do 500 series. I have the screws out, but cannot seem to seperate the motor from its housing...

If the shell feels like it's caught on something, then you haven't removed both of the footswitch screws, one is underneath just behind the rear axle, and the other is under the scuffplate (I can see the tabs for it are still in place), after those are released, the shell just comes right off with ease... :)

The upper foot switch screw, take it all the way out- the bottom one, just retract about 3/4 of the way, its a heck of a lot easier to put back together.

I have scans of the Heritage II service manual, let me know if you would like them. I have also posted them on the facebook group "Vacuum Collectors Club" you can download them there.

Well, i am in the process of reassembly right now. The thing that is holding me up is reataching the small light that goes on when the power is turned on. I know it clips on somewhere but not exactly sure.. hmm...
