Has anyone else noticed that the new Hoover Signature Upright...
hoover.com/products/details/c1320...

The Royal MRY6400...
www.royalvacuums.com/Household/Up...

and the Areus Electrolux LuxLite...
bestuprightvacuums.org/wp-content...

... All look identical? Silly question, but are these companies now all owned by the same conglomerate?

Also.. Royal's TOL Canister, Lexon S20...
www.royalvacuums.com/Household/Ca...

and the Hoover Anniversary Bagged Canister...
hoover.com/products/details/s3670...

... have a striking resemblance to each other? (Although it appears the Royal has the newer style Windtunnel power nozzle design from the Hoover Platinum Canister)

You are correct about TTI. They cross over a number of models between Hoover and Royal. Some Dirt Devils are even turned into a Royal "commercial" line.

As for Aerus' former design on the signature- I talked to our only Aerus store, about 20 minutes from our store in Columbia and compared notes. It is(was) manufactured for Aerus by TTI. Many times, a large company will do this for another company if the money is right. Even back in the day in terms of the "Starks" Royal upright and canister vacuums- it was manufactured by Royal for Starks.

According to my TTI rep, I think the minimum order on Metal Royals to have them branded with "your company name here" is around 5,000.

What happened with Aerus, is they had an emergency need for a lightweight upright- so while they were developing their own product, they had the Lux Lite, by TTI, to hold them over for the interim while they did product development for the "Fresh Era"

As a side note, the wholesale costs of the three vacuum cleaners were exceptionally different. The Hoover Signature is the least priced, the Royal 6400 is about $35 more than the Hoover Signature, and from what I am told, the Lux Lite ran a whopping $125 more than the Hoover Signature when a franchisee purchased those units. Just goes to show that appropriate retail cost is only as high as the name and salesman selling the machine.

Ah, that explains alot!

I wonder if they use higher quality parts in Royals and Luxs. I have not used the Royal or Hoover, but I do own a LuxLite (got it for free at the Iowa State Fair) and it is a fantastic little cleaner, and seems very sturdy and well made. Id love to trade up to a FreshEra tho. I love the L shape brushroll.

As far as I know, all three machines are the same. There is a 5' difference in the cord length on the Royal and Hoover. The only thing they change is the color of the front bag and upper lid housing.

And of course, don't forget about Vax, another TTI-owned company, pretty much everything sold as a Hoover over in the US would appear as a Vax here in Europe, as TTI aren't allowed to use the Hoover brand, which in Europe is owned by the Candy group... :P

Well, Vax is a subsidiary of TTI, so I'd guess so...

Vax USA is owned by TTI but in the USA seems to have been contracted to sell 120-volt versions of the Siemens or Bosch 2-motor bagless uprights that are sold in Europe:

I guess someone else owns Vax USA instead of TTI now.

Craftsman vs. Ridgid

Why do Ridgid & Craftsman vacs look so alike? Are they both made by the same company or is one "contracted" to make for the other? It really puzzles me, although I own both & love both vacs.
