Not sure if this should have went in offtopic, if so I apologize. Can anyone tell me, or have a link to share on what the prices for Kirby and Luxes were back in the day? |

In 1951 Kirby's were selling for $123.00. Look in the library here there are 3 issues of consumer reports. The have the prices listed for those years. Of course they were rated as the worst upright vacuums. |

in 1962 my grandmother bought the white Electrolux L with power nozzle and her paperwork states that she paid $149.99.
I have heard the Olympia was the $300.00. I had a customer give me her old Silverado ( in mint condition ) and on the bottom in black ink on a peice of tape was the date and price, 1986 and the price was ( with the PN 5 or 6, which ever one was the L shape) $485.00! I paid $2499.99 for my Guardian and Floor Pro WAY BACK in the day of 2003, very stupid I know but I love it!! |

Keep in mind that door to door salesmen alot of the time, back in the day, charged according to what the customer would pay. I know in April or May of 1976 my Grandma paid around 450.00 for her new Electrolux Golden Jubilee with PN. and without the rug washer. The Lux salesman that sold it to her was evidently getting rid of the last of the Golden Js, as this would have been around the time the Super J came out.
