So last week I bought a G5 which will be the main cleaning unit of the house. I have handful of cheap bags that came with it, not HEPA or anything fancy that I'm aware of. Yesterday I picked up a Heritage 84. The fill tube has cracks in it and I'd like to use the same bags with the G5 rather then buy 2 seperate kinds. Is it worth it to upgrade both vacs to the F-style bag adapter, or should I just convert the H84 to use G3-G5 bags? (I will have to get a new fill tube as well.) I guess my 2 questions are- is it easy to convert either vac to F-style, and are the F-bags any better (and cheaper?) then the G5 bags?

thanks

Umm... I would just fit the standard G5/Gsix/Ultimate G style adaptor.
Its just easier to get hold of the bags and you still can get the High filteration bags fot them anyway:o)

That's my 2 cents worth lol

The only difference between the two styles is the way they attach to the exhaust in the cloth bag, the bags are the same whichever type you buy (though the F-style may be a little more expensive depending on who you go to), so, I'd just say fit them both with Style 3 filltubes and use the white HEPA bags cos they're much better... :)

not like the new F style bag . I have the newest Sentria and I converted it to the old way because if I want to use the Paper hepa or the cloth hepa I can. I also have a ton of both bags so its not worth it for me. I have never had a problem with the old style falling off .So if it ain`t broken don`t fix it .

So if the bags are the same, it almost sounds like the F bags are just a way for Kirby to charge more for people with the newest vacuum. As much as I like Kirbys and think they are great, as a company I question how much longer they can continue to sell, which means the F bags could end up being obsolete while there is a large stock of the old bags. (This is just speculation of course! Hope that Kirby continues to do well) :)

Is there a good place on ebay (or elsewhere online) that people can recommend buying a fill tube and adapter for my Heritage? I'm in Canada too, FWIW.

The Kirby F-style adaptor was meant to make it faster and easier to attach and remove a bag, personally I've not had a problem with the push & twist setup, so, it's a bit of a case of engineering for the sake of making work... :S

As for parts, Kent Oyler of Kirby Needs on ebay is the man, see link below... :)

I have both types as well and have not had a problem with either set up. As long as you make sure on the old setup to make sure both tabs are mated correctly with the adapter, you should not have any problem.
