Have to say, just got this machine today (Care of a very special man, Jon). And it is a HOOT to use :)

Quiet, Powerful, Easy to move around - It also seems to have quite a high separation efficency as well, after vacuuming a very dirty rug, the the filter was only slightly shaded at the exit points of the cyclones.

Vax has certainly 'upped' their quality and performance from their earlier efforts.

I agree.

I bought one of these for a friend and was very impressed. I even liked this machine more than my Dyson DC24.

The Vax Mach Air appears to be very powerful and the sound level is not too loud either.

My mother has one and it works okay.

She has a low-profile carpet in her kitchen, and the Vax kept skipping over it (the floor underneath is concrete that was never laid entirely flat). I popped out the two wee roller wheels that are just behind the agitator cavity. It works fine on it now, and as for normal medium carpets, the machine just glides over them.

My only reservations are with the brushroll. It seems a little on the wimpy side. I think the bristles could have been made a little stiffer and longer, and I would have gotten rid of those daft agitator cavity guard-strips that interrupt the breadth of the brush sweep path.

The dust separation does work very well, and there is never much dust or dirt on the pre-motor filter.

A good effort and lightweight too.
