hello,i saw this vacuum in a thrift shop window today.it was a blue sqaured vacuum tha said '16 kenmore' on the front of it.any info on this vacuum?is it rare?
i'm thinking on getting it.

It sound rare to me. I'd get it. Of course I'd get almost any Kenmore lol

The square Kenmores...

 were the modern canisters that replaced the round ones that set in a trolley, and the tanks, including the one that sat upright in a wheeled carriage with a tubular stand for stability.

The top of the line was the Lady Kenmore that sat upside down with the suction mouth connecting to an electrified port on the front of the KenKart wheeled caddy. It held all the tools, and had an upright handle so it could be wheeled from room to room and into and out of the closet. The vacuum could use the power nozzle directly. I do not know if the same vacuum could be purchased without the KenKart, or if that was of necessity a different model. There were at least TWO sets of attachments available. The customer chose between standard and deluxe, and sometimes economy, standard and deluxe. The power nozzle was cool looking, and it swooped down to pronounced curved points to each side. The nozzle was made by Whirlpool, not sure about the canisters, maybe Whirlpool. Their round and elongated predecessors were made by Bee-Vac, as the uprights still were at this time. They had an look unlike any other upright. If you can imagine an Anser with a vertically mounted fan and an attachment port behind nameplate/belt cover. This was back in the late 50's. Sometime in the early 60's the canisters became sort of oblong with rounded fronts before the familiar squarish ones with the open tool slit on the top. Kenmore offered a wide range of electric brooms and hand vacs, too as well as scrubber polishers
