This question is for the Dyson people. I have a dc14, and clearing clogs is very easy. Friends of mine have a dc18 that is definately got a clog. Through trial and error I've determined the clog is in the path that enters the dirt bin. How do you clear this? It doesn't seem to open up like the dc14 or dc07. Do I need a plumbers snake?

Try bending a metal clothes hanger, and make a small "hooked" end, and wedge it in there. I've done that a lot to unclog vacuums.

Stick the hose from another vac over where the clog is (so that the airflow is reversed compared to if it were running under it's own setam), clears them out in no time... :)

You may need to check it to see if something's caught in there, on that Vax of mine, there was a paperclip that had gotten caught in the nozzle, so it caught fur, dirt, and fluff until it clogged up completely, a simple needlenose pliers treatment fixed that (and to think, that was the fault with it, aswell as a stinky clogged filter)... :)

Actually, this reminds me of one of Dyson's advert slogans; "Others clog, Ours don't."

Just sayin'...
