Hi Alex,

The electrolux does indeed pick more up than a dyson which is why I love it to bits.
Best Budget buy on the market at the minute.

The PurePower was bought in 2002 (maybe 2001 I forget) by myself whilst I was at " Littlewoods Clearance Outlet" Cheshire Oaks Retail Village in Ellesmere Port. Our dyson was on its way out and this seemed a snip for £60.
I looked it up in the Littlewoods Catalogue and it was in their current line up for £120.

So ive always assumed it was a Littlewoods exclusive having not seen that model elsewhere.

It has a Powerboost button to take the suction up for 10 seconds, just like the Electrolux contours did.

Nick, thanks so much for sharing those neat pictures! You have some very interesting machines. I am not sure what the vacuum is in picture #4 the one on the right?? It sure looks neat.

Hey Nick Great Pics...

A man after my own heart! When did you get your Miele S5210? Great isn't it!?

I've had a Miele for 10 years--great Diamond Dealer just a mile away and probably the most reputable and well liked in the whole San Francisco Bay Area. And, I just got a new Miele Capricorn S5980 yesterday... Got the bug after running across this site a few days ago. I'm not sure if it goes by the same name in the UK. Also heard that yours have outrageous wattage that goes up to 2200 W vs. our 1200 W, 1440 W with powerbrush head.

Anyway, just thought I'd say hi to a fellow Miele fan. Drop me a note sometime...

Hi Nick. I was looking at the pic of that VAX and thinking what an odd looking squat machine..then I noticed all your pics are the same. something up with your camera?

Ah I got it.. you put it in squat mode when you squatted down to take that first pic. LOL

Hi, petek. :-)

The reason why Nick’s cleaners look so squat is because he feeds them too much! ;-)

Regards,

Carl :-)

Hey Mike,
I just got a Capricorn 3 months ago with the SEB236 power brush. It is a great machine although some minor improvements would make it an incredible machine ie. longer hose, longer cord and bigger/better dusting brush. The floor brush is awesome.

I’ve just realised that I had not commented on your pictures, Nick! :-)

Nice to see a wide range of cleaners, although I promise not to mention your Mum’s gruesome twosome, as you call them. ;-)

I’ve seen it before, but I like the colour of your Miele, and the whiteness of the Electrolux is quite different too – probably shows up less dust but more dirt, I guess! :-) Looks clean, though! :-) I take it you use your Miele to clean it! ;-) LOL

Oh, and I have a Vax like that – it’s the V-027. I paid for it, so it *is* mine! LOL :-) And the Sebo, too. MINE! :-) LOL

If you could, Nick, instead of a Miele Cat & Dog cleaner, you’d probably get a Miele Mum & Dad cleaner and a Miele Brother & Sister cleaner for sorting them all out!!! ;-)

See you soon. :-) Take care. :-)

Regards,

Carl :-)

Countryguy... Miele Capricorn

Hi Gary,

Nice to meet you... I need to put up a post officially introducing myself... I'm not a "real" new member yet, as I have to send in my check and forms, but at least I have them printed out and ready to go.

I agree with your take on the Capricorn. As I wrote above, I have had a Miele for 10 years (just picked it up from being serviced today) and there's really nothing wrong with it, but every time I go in to buy bags, I get caught up in the new models. I actually had my eye on the S4210 Antares with the battery operated SAB100-3 Accu Nova Electro Brush. But, after reading up on it, talking with the dealer and giving it a test spin, it was clear that, while it's a cute little machine, that power brush just wasn't going to cut it for me. (I really like the look and feel of the compact Galaxy series.)

So, then I looked at the S5580 Aquarius... but for a little more I could get the limited edition Gemini (love the look and color of both machines)... and of course if I was going to spend that kind of money... well, you know how it goes... I might as well go for the platinum and get the Capricorn... Sales people salivate when they see me coming...LOL... I still like the look of the Gemini and Aquarius over the Capricorn though...

I think someone on here suggested getting a spare non-electrical hose to use with the duster. I haven't tried it yet, but that handle doesn't look to accessory friendly. And, I totally agree with what you and several others have said about the new duster. Are they kidding! Thankfully I still have my other duster, which is in great shape... I'll probably still use my purple S324i for dusting and vacuuming the upholstery. Yeah, I'm thrilled about the SEB236 power brush.

By the way Gary, is your Capricorn shiny plastic or kind of rubberized? Mine has kind of a rubbery texture, but when I looked on Miele's site, most of the pictures show it with the same type of glossy housing as the other S5s. Both in gray, but different textures. Anyway, again it's nice to meet you. Shoot me an email sometime.

Mike

I should probably start a new post/thread to ask this, but does anyone have any pics/info on the Kenmore canisters from the early '60's? I would love to find the Kenmore we had when I was a kid... yes, I'm aging myself.. But after a long Google search, I couldn't find a thing. I couldn't even find anything on Sears's Web site. I have no idea what model it was, except I think it was kind of off white, almost a green tint, square and I think the bottom was a dark, moss green or gray. It would be so cool to find one in mint condition. I've seen nothing on eBay. Any leads would be appreciated.

Turbo500-
While your information is true, Ryan still has a valid question.

Besides he most likely doesn't know what the original posters history has been.
The original poster hasn't closed their account here so...... there's a chance he could answer Ryan.

Interesting infor Turbo, if Ryans b-day is correct, it means he was just an itto-witto 3 year old when you joined this site.

Ryan, just so you know, Turbomaster1984 has an email listed on his profile where you might be able to get in touch with him direct to ask about the vacuum.

You need to be an upgraded member to have access to the members profile.

Hi, I am just interested in vacuum cleaners and the velocity is one of my favourites. Have I, or am I, doing anything wrong by asking about it?
It would seem that you are a little annoyed at my posts, I am not trying to annoy anyone, just enquire about vacuum cleaners (the name of the forum gives it away). To find people or websites with this interest is rare so I thought I would be welcome here. I am only young.

You haven’t done anything “wrong”, but it is a little bit silly to keep commenting on threads that are over 10 years old, posted by members who no longer own those cleaners or even post on the forum anymore. You also seem to just keep commenting on the same posts until someone comments.

Just a polite heads up but if nobody is responding, chances are that nobody has the information you’re looking for or can’t contribute anything to the post that hasn’t been said already.

DC07 Standard

Well I've replaced the belt a few time and cleaned it but it's still got it's original motor that still works after 15 years. That DC07 Standard was my mum's old vacuum but she let me have the DC07 and now she's got a DC41 MK2

I had the DC41 Mk11 I was very impressed with the agitation and is was reasonably quiet.
I've gone back to bagged cleaners now apart from the V8 but I might get a small ball sometime.
