The wheel placement is interesting - it can spin on a dime.  The Lux Guardian/9000 did the same kind of thing except there was only 1 wheel in front.

Impressive! Would love to try one out sometime.

Was it designed by NASA?

WOW, that's an impressive machine.  It looks like a cross between vacuum cleaner and lunar land-rover!   If only that exhaust filter was shaped more like a satelite dish....

All joking aside, I would love to see how it peforms.

HAH!!!

I just looked at the website.  My NASA reference wasn't off the mark!   I agree, the website design is annoying to say the least.  Still, that's a very impressive vacuum cleaner.

Nice colors

I like the red color on this machine,my patriot has a gold label on its side and I think it's missing a round sticker below the handle.I need to call patriot to see if I can still get the round sticker.Mine came with the big foot power nozzle and I just found a pristine cinnamon roto matic power team that I kept the power nozzle from that has a helix shaped metal brush roll that works great with my patriot.

Built to last!!!!!

The patriot is also a very simple machine to service, not all that electronic junk that fails and collects dust in the motor compartment, just three screws and you are inside the machine.I find simple is best in the long run for reliability and performance. The Patriot has all those simple design features for a long life.

Schoettler research and engineering..

used to make the Airstorm and the Patriot with a choice of power nozzles. The Douglas was standard on the Airstorm which came in six colors. The Sebo was the nozzle for the Patriot. Interesting is the curved upper wand allowing reach under furniture without bending over. The Vortech used to have a six wheel design, and a cordwinder. Not sure if they are still around or not.

My Patrot

is just like that one. I bought it a year ago. The only difference is my power nozzle is more streamlined and not as boxy looking as that one. My other patriot(silvery gray and white model) has that big boxy looking power nozzle, and my airstorm has the Big Foot power nozzle and I don't like either one of those power nozzles. The new Patriot power nozzle seems to be more easy to use. Just my opinion...

Patriot offers 2 power heads. The Wessel-Werk and and the Sebo, which is in the picture.

Power heads..

How does the Wessel Werk P/N with its swivel neck work with the s-shape upper wand?
Would think they would work against each other. Or does the W/W cone with two straight wands?

Could you post a photo of the brushroll of that nozzle? I have a nozzle for my Sebo canister that looks identical to yours but I'm disappointed in the single-brush brushroll. What does the Patriot's brush look like and how does it perform?

Here is the brushroll for ya. And yeah I would sell it, but I want alot for it they are $3000 new, but I would sell this one for $2000. Anyway the S wand works ok with the wessel, feels much better with the Sebo though. The Sebo is a much better P/N, but I have heard rumors that Sebo is going to stop making this P/N. But we will see. You know how rumors are in the vacuum world.

Patriot..Simply the best

I am a huge fan and have owned more than 10 different high end vac's. None stack up to the Patriot, and they really do a great job. I own the green model and just made a deal on a 2010 Red model (both have the 6 wheels) and are easy to maneuver and clean with. I wont knock any other brands, but I have put my Patriot against some of the others I own and no comparison in results. I am very happy with my Patriots and will never buy anything else . Thanks Schoettler Reseacrh & Engineering.

Thanks for the welcome Eric. I sent ya an email. Funny, I still have an anniversary Tristar and used it along with my Kirby the night before my first Patriot was delivered. I did a great job with both the Tristar and the Kirby (so I thought) I almost filled the bag in the Patriot the next day, so I became an immediate fan. Not looking back, nor knocking any other brands, just saying..Patriot is the only vac I will ever own again,

www.air-lion.com...

Rex, if you are still in Raleigh, you can check for a dealer nearby at the Schoettler toll free number, 1-800-659-9901

Les, the machine can be converted to either Vacuum use for pickup or room deoderizer and filteration with the small intake Medic-Air; it keeps little people fingers and pets out from the machine's intake in Hybrid Mode.

Looks like I would have to call their phone# to see if a dealer is still around.I bought mine something like 15 or more years ago. Also bet the price is up there in space. But it is a good vacuum.Think the bags should be updated to Filtrete style bags and maybe the top enclosed for allergy folks.

Allergy Bags

cleanairhybrid's profile picture
Hi Rex,

Sorry about that, my mistake on your location. The same Phone number, toll free should work from your location.

We do sell units via shipping or direct to home in person. Either way can be arranged depending on how far the distributor is from you.

There is actually a choice of two different bag styles, the open top 'tri star' bag we call them Stormy bags or the Patriot Hybrid Allergy bag - just as you mentioned, for allergy sufferers that want a sealed disposal without dumping dust and stuff everywhere.

Pricing is flexible, depending on the packages chosen and options - such as Mini Wessel for Upholstery and Car interiors or air turbine brushes for soft floors. I literally have a spare parts catalogue that comes in two pages.

If you need a 15 foot electrified hose, stretchy 20 foot retractable hose, and a menagerie of tools for cleaning just about anything.

blackheart's profile picture
Hello Kyle,

Rex is referring to like a hepa style bag often made of polypropylene and cloth like in feel. While the allergy bags provide a closed top they are still a paper bag. We collectors tend to be very finicky about our bags. They sent me a sample of these bags a while back and while it was alright I've much preferred using vacuum America clean branded hepa TriStar bags yes I know the bag collar isn't the right shape but they do work, retain airflow better, and keep my cloth bag cleaner. Schottler should really look into getting genuine hepa bags made. A machine in this price point should definitely have them.

Here goes----I ordered a Patriot from the factory in California. The machine is currently being shipped to me.Good to know about the closed top bags.I still think they need to go to the spun weave cloth HEPA bags as everyone else has gone to.The paper bags are now obselete.Anxious to try this machine and see how different this is to my old one.And it was sold to me at half price. And plan to use my Volt powernozzle with it.Guess the Raleigh place is no more-the factory said there wasn't a place in NC that sells Patriot vacuums anymore.

Hi Rex and Devin,

I'm so glad the factory could help you out! We really do exist, honest.

I understand now what you both are looking for, and have suggested it.
It is the next generation of the true HEPA bags that are cloth not paper.

Schoettler is always innovating, so if I get something like that in inventory I'll post about it.

I'm glad you got the current promotion, they are priced to move and I think it's a fair deal for the machine.

I kinda like the color myself, and the way the design is set up.

Did you get a machine with the display or just the mechanical one without digital display?

Kyle

The bags the ones pictured above are good. I have one last bag I got from the original owner who sold it to me. Its performance is much better with those bags. I don't know but it's not a little power difference it's a big difference. I did completely unclog the wands but the envirocare bags and the VAC HEPA put in the machine wasn't running the vacuum to the level of performance the Patriot bags.

New Machine

cleanairhybrid's profile picture
Hi Les and Rex,

Yes, the closed top bags do provide better air flow than the standard bags. I don't have a number to exactly give, but I noticed the difference as well.

So the Unit will have either a metal service plate faceing upwards with the Patriot logo on it on a machine without the display or will have like a touch screen 'iPhone' sort of screen.

To answer your question, what does it do, several things.

In Service mode - Essentially checking filter performance is the biggest feature, showing reduced air flow and and over time it will tell you which filter to replace.

In Hybrid mode - It also has a 5, 10, 15 minute timer for when it's operating as an air purifier. So you don't have to leave it on and shut it off.

Standby Mode - In the standby mode you can pause the machine via the touch screen rather than the foot activated on off switch like manual units.

In normal operation it also has an air meter showing operating time and animations showing air flow.

Patriot Digital Display

cleanairhybrid's profile picture
Ho John,

I hope this helps, this is the display in normal operation mode with the air meter counter in the top right.

You can see the Green Hybrid Mode touch button, and the blue stand bye touch button, as well as the display will show an animation while using instead of the still image. I just don't have a link to a video of it in operation.

The Arc Engine shows a blue band when the unit is running, as it is in this still image.

Fun Durability

Hi everyone,

John - I like the placement of it for a lot of reason. It's out of the way, not gimmicky, and durable.

They have a fun way of making the Patriot 'evolve' and I enjoy the design and modifications.

Rex, I can't wait for you to get your machine. Shipping is usually 5 - 10 business days and average 7 - usually. I hope you enjoy it!

I also uploaded a picture of the one page add we have for the display models. You can see where it is on the machine zoomed out rather than the closeup up above. Keep in mind this is the P3 and your P4 will be Purple instead of Blue.

Is the readout screen needed to use the Patriot as a vacuum cleaner-I don't normally use vacuums as air purifiers since I have machines made for this-and they have UVC bulbs to destroy bacteria, spores, and virus.Covid ones included. And air purifiers can move more CFM than vacuums-but of course no "suction" as a vacuum has for cleaning. And their air intakes and discharges larger than on a vacuum.

Non Display P4

cleanairhybrid's profile picture
Hi Rex,

On Display Units, when you turn the machine on - the display will come on - it
monitors filter efficiency and the air meter will count down showing the filter animation. It doesn't matter if the Medic-Air front purifier is on the machine in purifier mode or the hose in vacuum cleaner mode.

I use the timer on the green touch button to set count downs if I only have a certain amount of time like 10 minutes to get stuff done. One of my female customers turns the timer on because she says her kids have to clean for 15 minutes.

The machines without the display just have a metal service plate. Attached.

My Patriot vacuum-Purple Heart Edition has the metal cover-no display. The vacuum arrived yesterday afternoon. Its a lovely deep purple-now if only Kirby would make one of theirs to match!!!As on another post on vacuum hand tools my Patriot came with FULL SIZE high quality tools with METAL locking connectors. This is one TOUGH vacuum!!!!Beginning tries like this machine. Its as much fun as the central vacs.Came with an adjustable floor height Wessl Werk powernozzle that has LED headlights.Haven't tried it yet.The vacuum came with another set of plastic wands to use with the hard floor tool. And of course the GIANT HEPA exhaust filter.--and several packs of Stormy bags!!!The Pony Express finally came thru from California!!And to put it-this vacuum is QUIET and VERY powerful!!!Possibly the BEST DTD canister you are going to find.Would have liked to see the demo and "proof" book!

Glad to hear your first impressions about your new Patriot. I heard from another collector that it's the best canister with airflow that he's ever measured. So did you actually get to choose whatever color you wanted? Or is it just purple now that they sell today?

Anyways since this thread is about the Patriot, just thought that I wanted to show on what really got my attention about the Patriot. Even though it's an older video.

Great Feedback

cleanairhybrid's profile picture
Hi Rex,

Congratulations on getting your new machine (non display).
They really are well built! I will pass the feedback on to our head office in California!

Alex, yes, all units in this P4 series will be purple. Until we change models in 3-5 years. It's really SREC's discretion.

Yes, that video is still valid and our head office is continually testing new models and updating their results.

Yes, we are 120 CFM, continuously! The highest of any canister vac made!
At that level of air flow we can keep the filtration near 100%.

It's probably time for SRES to make a new video.........

None of the models in the video are current anymore and a few of those manufacturers have since improved on what they do make.

Highest airflow

blackheart's profile picture
Hey Alex, there was a time at which the P3 did hold the record for a standard canister (excluding backpacks) with a tested hose airflow of about 116 CFM, since then I have found two machines which surpass that at about 122 and 126.

Certainly not trying to detract from it 116 (with an unknown filter condition) is very impressive and surpasses all but two designs I've tested thus far.

Yup

The Perfect C101, which has seemingly been discontinued measured around 122
and the Kenmore Elite canister with the inducer motor measured in at about 126

There was also the NSS M-1 Pig which measured in around 117 cfm but I don't really think of that as a standard canister due to it's massive size.

A model with the Wessel Werk EBK 340 or EBK360 power nozzle sounds exciting. Both of those offer very strong agitation and headlights.

I would not be able to purchase a model if it came with the Sebo ET-1 power nozzle as pictured. I've tried a few various brush rolls as Sebo offers bristles of varying stiffness. Sadly they all perform terribly. The agitator removal system for easy cleaning of the brush roll is great and they are made well with reliable parts. If only they made them with a stronger motor to agitate better.

Is this the perfect motor or the Patriot motor.
If you take off the front butt plug you're going to get at least 2-7 more cfms.
I'm not sure if the company founder is alive or one of his two children are running it. He went from IEC to tristar to REC. Where he went great machines are always produced. Tristan MG series is a joke.

Hi Devin,

Thank you for posting that motor pic! I haven't had one pulled apart in a long time!

Rex, glad you like the machine! High praise, I've passed on your comments to California as well as other comments people have forwarded to me.

Les, Schoettler is still in the family and Harold's son Michael runs the company now, largely. He is the vice president and an excellent guy to do business with!

Rob, the machine can be ordered with either ET1 or Wessel, we always give the customer that choice if in stock. Feel free to order a patriot any way you wish, display, no display, wessel EBK 360, Sebo Et1 - extra hoses, different bag types, it's all the customer's choice!

Kyle

Would the BIG filter at the exhaust be restrictive in some way ??

The large filter on mine doesn't affect the power of the machine at all.Figure you are supposed to replace it when the power goes down or you get odors-like if the vacuum is used in a place with dogs.Figure the giant filter is going to last me a long time! And it stays on the machine.A similar filter on a TriStar would come off or fly apart if the filter was bumpted. The Patriot filter is close to the machine so it shouldn't be affected by bumps.I use the Green print Hybrid Allergen bags-these are thicker than the Stormy bags. One Stormy bag burst at the top near the lid-this vacuum has such a powerful motor!

vacuum. But it looks super cool!! I want one.

One thing tho - about that smoke/fog test video. I'm not sure about that. Watching all the smoke escape those vacuums....If that represented dust, our houses would be more filthy after vacuuming than before. In other words, there'd be dust all over the place landing on furniture and everything very soon after we finished cleaning. If sun were shining through the window, it would be a dust clouded sunbeam.
