Filter Queen 33 Power Nozzle Substitute?

I have two brown Filter Queens, one has the smaller Model 48 powernozzle & the other has the Model 88 nozzle with the light. I have found on both my Filter Queens, that if you put the brushroll in the "worn" position inside the powernozzle, so the brushes stick out more from the bottom plate, I find this greatly improves the powernozzle's performance on most types of carpet.

One other idea to think of, is to try a Watermatic/Filter Magic powernozzle with the Filter Queen. That one is essentially a black mid-1980's GE powernozzle, without beaters & bristles on the brushroll, just all bristles. And remember, the GE is essentially a Filter Queen Model 48 powernozzle with a redesigned hood. All you would have to do to make it work, is to stick your Filter Queen's nozzle connector into it, and shorten the PN cord to work with the wand. The bristles are much stiffer than what comes normally on the Filter Queen powernozzle, so this should improve performance a bit.

Then again, if you want to substantially improve performance, you could always buy a Dust Care PB11, Sweep n Groom, or Wessell Werk EBK340. Just buy an adapter, have a buttonlocker installed in the adapter & have the cord shortened to work with the Filter Queen wand.

There is a website here in Ontario, Allegro Central Vacuums, that has amazing deals on all three powernozzles, so I will post a link to the website a bit later today when I can find it.

BTW- Brandon_W_T: Do yourself a favor, don't bother upgrading to the new Filter Queen powernozzle. The performance is the same, except you no longer get height adjustment or a light, & there is a cogged belt instead of flat belts. And the brushroll has no adjustment for wear either, unlike the previous models. Just stick with what you have, or try the Tri-star or any of the above suggestions. You would be MUCH better off.

Checkrate/Likes I have the chocolate and chrome Filter Queen Model 33, and the power nozzle is so weak. I was wondering if anybody knows of another kind of power nozzle that will fit this cleaner? I can't think of anything since the wands fit inside of the hose, rather than over the handle. It is just such a shame that the canister has such good suction but a terribly weak power nozzle. (In my opinion that is) So bottom line, has anybody rigged up a different power nozzle for one? Or does anyone have any ideas? Thanks! Chase

Checkrate/Likes *Rebuild* Well if the motor and brush is original I suspect it just needs to be refurbished,I have done this on that type of nozzle and had great results.The motor and brush roll and the two dust seals are fairly inexpensive from hesco or essco or ebay.Contrary to some folks opinion on this site I think the filter queen power nozzle does a fine job at cleaning carpet if it is in good working order. Also make sure your dome and secondary filters are replaced,this will play a very important role in the performance of your machine. Richard new2youvacuums on ebay

Checkrate/Likes *Personally...* I think the small no 48 FQ power nozzle is very good, but if you want something more agressive, I think there is still an adapter available, also, Im pretty sure that you can get a brushroll with much stiffer bristles...It is funny, but a friend who sells Rainbows says the hardest machines to dig dirt behind are Filter Queens and Hoover uprights!

Checkrate/Likes Is it true the new filter queen power nozzles are really good? Once i get my triple crown fIlter queen restored, I plan on putting a different nozzle on it. Perhaps a tristar nozzle.

Checkrate/Likes The brushroll is practically new, and the bristles really flair out of the nozzle. I just don't feel like it is deep cleaning. And the belts are almost always slipping. I might look into getting an adaptor for it... Thanks everyone! Chase

Checkrate/Likes You can use another power nozzle on your Filter Queen by removing the suction coupler on the end of the hose. That will allow you to create a friction fit with a standard Eureka wand. I've done that with mine and use the Eureka Sweep-n-Groom on my Filter Queen. You'll need to wedge a small piece of cardboard into the wand to create a tight fit. I really like my Filter Queen but their power nozzles just aren't aggressive enough for me!

Checkrate/Likes *FQ PN Model 48 or 88?* The culprit of Mdl 88 PNs is that most people assemble the PN incorrectly; either by not putting all the screws on or parts not on correctly. Filter Queen power nozzles I've serviced had the dirt seals missing, or the gasket is worn. I own a Mdl 88 PN & it vibrates the carpet nicely.
