Has anyone here ever used the large Air-fresh bags--or as the website now calls them--"cushion crunch" bags from Rainbow? Do they work? I'm going to friends in Palm Desert and their cleaning lady does not ever vacuum upholstery, lampshades, etc and am wondering if these would be of use. Thank for your opinion!

Air Fresh Bags...

YES!! They would be of use! Each time the cushion is crunched some dust is removed, and when fresh air is let in, it rebounds a little cushier than it was before. I would recommend thoroughly vacuuming them first for maximum benefit. IF you use both hoses, one on the intake and exhaust openings, you can switch quickly from sucking air out to re-inflating with clean air. I have never seen any improvement over 6-7 attempts on a cushion. Do NOT use them on lampshades, as it likely will damage them.

If you remove the fabric covers after vacuuming and tumble them in the dryer while refreshing the foam, here's how to get them back in their covers: 1)Take a plastic bag, (a black garbage bag will do)2) cut the end open and 3)fold it over the edge of the cushion inside the bag and 4)compress it down, 5)slide it back into its cover, 6)reach in and open the end in the bottom of the cushion and peel it back, and with the suction still on, 7)slide the bag off the foam. If necessary you can 8)slide the cushion in its partially removed bag in its outside cover into ANOTHER bag(you have to 9)move the hose so it is between the outer bag and the cushion to keep the cushion compressed enough to completely remove the inner bag. It's awkward the first couple of times, but the newness and cleanness of the cushions inside and out is worth the bother. I have done this to the utter amazement and astonishment of people watching and sitting on the cushions before and after the treatment. To them it is a miracle second only to transforming water into wine.
