Royal continued to sell the model 886 into 1993, because here's one that carries a serial # of A93225966H, in which the build date is January 1993.

So, may I take opinions from you? Thus: The big difference between the first 886 and the last is that the first ones made from 1987 to 1990-91 are painted medium blue, whereas the 1990-91 to 1993 versions are colored dark blue a la the 992/994/996.

The 6-amp motor is retained, but after mid-1990 they changed the impeller fan from a 6-blade type to a 9-blade type. I'm not sure, but I think the 1990-1/2 model 886s might also have gotten the dark blue trim along with the redesigned fan.

I could be wrong but ...

Doesn't it appear that the brushroll is in backwards on this machine?

Joe,

You could ask the seller about that.

Joe,

I think it generally means she is busy and will check on it later.

Also: the Royal 885 was similar to this, same dark-blue trim, except for the omission of a headlight, and of course the peculiar "HEAVY DUTY COMMERCIAL QUALITY" label below the AOR plug.

Close-up of the nozzle... again, the trim color on this 886 was shared with the more upscale 994.
