Hello everyone.

In case you are wondering, Greg Nunn went to go get that funky Montgomery Wards cord winder upright at the goodwill... it was gone. :(

I went today to be somewhat disappointed when finding only one nice vacuum. This one.

Here is my Kenmore Whispertone Canister. I grew up around a similar one. My grandparents had it, then upgraded a few years later to the current blue one they have now. Same powerhead, just different slightly more modern canister.

Really like these machines. Good suction, high quality PN, pretty durable construction, and very quiet in operation.

I tried it in the store and everything worked FANTASTIC! Lightbulb worked too!

I scrubbed it down, and all.

Plugged it in to clean up my mess, and... what do ya know. The power nozzle wont work.

(vacuum works fantastic and is very quiet!)

PIctures to show the problem later.

Anyone have an approximate age? Im guessing around 1990 or so?

Power nozzle.

The canister.

Haven't cleaned the outside much. I striped apart the power nozzle.

Handle controls.

Every canister should have handle controls! :)

Now for the unexpected.

This had to happen at the goodwill since I saw and used it when I got that 1970s kenmore upright, I think.

How disappointing. I shall see if my favorite vacuum store can give me a hose, but otherwise I probably wont put much money out towards one.

You found this at the Goodwill?! Its in great condition and it's a canister! At best I might find a Sharp or a Windtunnel.

Melty!

Wonder if the previous owner paid attention to the melting electrical connection, or just kept using it until it quit working. :P

Sure did, bagintheback. I've found some of my rarest vacuums at this particular one.

Andrew, the funny thing is, it worked when I tried it on friday. Quite bizarre.

If I get a new hose, would it be safe to use?

I was planning on making this my new daily driver. My grandpa has a stockpile (around 300) paper bags for these, so I figure I can live off of those and not have to buy expensive filter queen cones or tristar bags, or even more- constellation bags, if I can find em!

Whoops. Here is the picture of the power nozzle side of the plug.

I would be spreading those connectors out and trying it again!

Brandon - it's a great canister. The hose and wands are available everywhere, if you want to pay the price. I think a regular 2-piece wand set will run you about USD30, but the hose could be around USD80.00.

Here's a typical replacement part supplier for you -
