Because a bigger company came along and offered money. I used to work in corporate funeral service and the corporations would buy each other out, dissolve facilities, and buy private owned places out all of the time. It's just part of life.
TTI is run like a corporation, they are a corporation. In addition to Hoover and Royal- they also own the other following popular brands: Milwaukee Ryobi AEG Homelite It is sad to see a corporation streamline a lot of products, but in reality some of the new vacuums are nice, simple and innovative. I am a TTI dealer and warranty station and they are very competitive with their pricing and offer a very appropriate margin with most machines. The downside is they are not built like vacuums used to be built, but they are still built with the quality expected for their price. Recently, we became dealers of the American Made Riccar vacuum. This was not to replace Hoover or Royal, but to offer buyers an alternative to the Hoover/Royal line (we only carry one dirt devil and that's the handvac classic). It is going to be interesting to see what people tend to prefer more- we will push Riccar, but it will be worth noting how many customers go with the Royal simply because of price. Someone said it earlier last month and I'll say it again: "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of a low price is forgotten" - Benjamin Franklin |

Hi there Christopher...
Thank you for the rational explanation for the business decisions that TTI and Hoover and Royal make. I was shocked to see the name AEG listed as one of the companies now under the TTI umbrella, since I thought Electrolux owned the AEG vacuum cleaner company now. Turns out, TTI just bought the power tools division of AEG. Here's an article explaining that corporate transition: CLICK HERE TO GO TO eurekaprince's LINK |

AEG Power Tools is a separate company to AEG Floorcare and large household appliances. TTI only own the power tool outfit.
Click link for more up to date profit news from TIT, sorry TTI. To be honest, and as a few members have stated, it could be any multi-global company that could come in to rescue these brands. I think people should just let time pass and see what products are developed rather than turning negative. From my own experience TTI have been good for Vax in the UK. Without the Dirt Devils from the U.S under the Vax name, I don't think Vax would have survived under their own designs unless they developed a commercial range based entirely on their canister tub vacuums, trying to snatch a slice of the market that Numatic already have. Karcher have tried it, but even their round canister vacuums aren't as well built as either Vax or Numatic. Without Dirt Devil, we wouldn't have had carpet washers from Vax, or even those much maligned bagless vacuums. CLICK HERE TO GO TO sebo_fan's LINK |

What happened to Vax USA? I'm refering to what is branded as Vax here in the USA like the x3 & x5 uprights. |

The X3 and X5 uprights were not part of TTI - the AVC I and AVC II were the original uprights produced by Vax. I had one - terrific vacuum cleaner but heavy, sometimes difficult to steer on hard floor cleaning and compromised by that front hose that was inclined to clog. Vax and Bosch went together on the AVC upright with Bosch selling their own version in the UK alongside Vax. Eventually worldwide, the AVC morphed into the cosmetically different VX1 before the U.S got X3 and X5.
It was also quite expensive at cost when it appeared in the UK. It was obviously supposed to be a top end upright with its built in auto cord rewind and long travel cable - things I really liked about it. |
