Guys,
I was at a goodwill about a month or so ago and I came across a Hoover Concept One. I own one of these, but this one was different. The power surge, and power drive switches were located at the top of the handle. They were only asking $25 for it and now i'm kicking myself for not getting it. Mine is i think an early one as the switch is a two speed and the power drive release in located in the front of the handle.

Did it look something like this?

This would go in the modern forum.

This machine is my grandpas. One of my childhood vacuums. he had two. I eventually got one a while back.

One on left is my grandpas- one on right was mine.

Definitely one of hoovers best vacuums ever

I actually dont know much about older concepts. The two speed ones were more common.

The model above I posted is a U3335.

Currently I have a model U4205 that is mint green with cord winder. I believe its late 70s. It has the regular small plastic handle, with a two speed switch on the back. No power drive though.

Maybe that's it.

Mine is like the U4219, but has the power drive.

Controls confusing

My Concept One has very confusing controls to it. I really like this one over mine because the controls are right at my finger tips. Very well though out design on this partiuclar model. Wish i had bought that one when i saw it. Let me know if any of you find another one like it and maybe i'll think about trading it.

Thats the way the older ones were normally built. The newer and more deluxe ones featured the new handle, and easier controls. They used this new handle into the powermax series.

Which was the last of the really good hoovers
