Hi, does anyone remember or have a Eureka Freedom from the early '90's? Love to see a photo. It was touted as the first rechargeable upright vacuum, and a great design at that. Thanks, Ron

I think you are referring to the very first version of the cordless Boss Lightweight Upright. I think it is the very first incarnation of what is now called the Superlite. The Superlite is corded, but the first version was a cordless upright. The main body and filtration dirt cup and adjustable handle seem to be the same. I think the brush-roll hood and colours were different (the first ones were black with purple buttons and graphics.)

The writing on the first versions said: "Cordless Upright"

Here is the link to the current corded version:

I remember....

It was not on the market long, but I remember TV commercials for the Eureka Freedom. It was red and boasted a 20 minute running time with extra batteries available. I do not remember if it could be used as a corded unit also. I think not, but am not 100% sure.

Hi, you got it right, and no it was not corded at all. I would love to find one. It was available about 1990. Ron

Never have I ever seen or heard about this Eureka in all the years I have focused on their vacs!

The cordless Boss Lite that was labelled as a "Cordless Upright" must have been inspired by this design......and finally I see some names for the industrial designers working at Eureka!!!!!! Would love to find out where they are working now and what other Eurekas they created: Kenneth R. Parker Sr., Sue Pike and Samuel Hohulin

Patrick - could not find the Freedom on the Aussie website. Which vac is still available in Australia - the Freedom or the Boss Lite Cordless Mini Upright?

Thanks

Thanks Chase, that's the vacuum! It's so incredibly rare nowadays! I bought one back then, but lost it along the way. It was sold through Target, but don't know where else. I sure would love to have it. It was way ahead of its time. Ron

Did the Freedom have the "dustbuster style" filter or did it have one of those screen filters that runs through the cup vertically? i've seen both styles on superlites. How did the performance compare to the superlite?

That's not it....

Look at vacman117's link. The Freedom was a full size upright, red, but battery powered
