I've seen this now for a while and i can't stand it anymore. I need an explanation. Is it made under license? "CompactC9" thinks the design was stolen outright. Any theories?

Here's another. The info on the above panel says the 9.5 amp motor is 30 percent more powerful. Is it possible for a Sanitaire to be any more powerful, without attaching itself to the floor and not letting go?

Eureka/Sanitaire has private-labeled this machine for MANY companies over the past 3 decades, including among others, Clarke, Advance, Tornado, Nobles, PowrFlite and Kent, to name a few. In fact, I'll go so far as to say name almost any commercial machine manufacturer, and you'll find that machine in the lineup at some point. AFAIK, it's still made in the Eureka factory.

the Perfect vacuums are made in (surprise!) China.

And that fact alone tells us nothing about who makes it. It could still be a Eureka product, made in a Eureka plant -- Electrolux AB (Eureka's owner) has invested heavily in China. Or it could be that Eureka has licensed it to a Chinese producer. Or it could be a reverse-engineered patent ripoff. For a mechanical/electrical product, it's about as straightforward as it's possible to get. It wouldn't be too hard to take a genuine Eureka apart and copy the design.
