Good evening everyone! I got a vacuum for Christmas I'm really impressed with! A Miele S7 Cat & Dog!

It lays flat and has a really low profile for an upright, so it can easily get under furniture most uprights can't!

Blurry full-vacuum shot...

Love the headlight! It casts a shadow on dirt and illuminates it. It's so fun to see dirt highlighted by the vacuum, only to see it completely gone after the Miele's had one sweep over it!

It has great tools too!

The hose is really long, the wand is sturdy and doesn't wobble when telescoped, and the attachments work great! The Cat & Dog model comes with a Miele turbo tool in the box. It's kinda big, and bogs down easy, and really could be better, but it still works well on furniture. Overall one of the best on-board tool setups I've ever seen on an upright. The variable speed control is also great. The vacuum is very quiet!

And a look at the underside...

The swivel casters in the front let the vacuum turn very smoothly. It's very maneuverable. Between that and rear wheel setup, which flip down into the housing when the handle is released, make the whole design very unique and interesting! The spring-loaded brushroll works well too, and really helps when vacuuming thick pile carpets. I can use it on all the various carpet types in my home, which is something I can't say about most of my vacuums with automatic height adjusters.

The swivel neck works very well, and is impressively smooth in operation. The vacuum appears kind of large, but it's really amazing how easily it can get into hard to reach places and around and under furniture!

It also does an amazing job on bare floors! Upright or canister, it's shocking how effortlessly it gobbles up debris on bare floors.

Both handles are comfortable to use, the switches are conveniently located, and the super-long cord wraps up towards the top of the vacuum. All big pluses!

When not in use, the main attachments store nicely in the back. The layout is nice, and allows for a long crevice tool, adding to the immediate versatility of the Miele. It's got a well-placed carrying handle in the back. This pic also shows how far the top of the vacuum can swivel. Overall its a fun, powerful, and refined machine!

Stunning!

Thanks for the great pics, Corey - it's always nice when someone takes the time to post really decent photos of their appliances!

I've had my S7 AutoCare (Tango) for well over a year now - a couple of minor dislikes, but for the most part it's a wonderful quiet, powerful cleaner which I love to use! I'm really glad to hear you like yours, too. I love the lotus white colour - the Cat & Dog model is bright red in the UK, which I'm not as keen on.

An interesting fact about the S7, which I witnessed first-hand at their factory - unlike all of Miele's other vacuums, which are assembled section by section on a production line, each S7 is hand-assembled from start to finish by one worker. It's amazing to think vacuums are still being built with such high attention to detail and quality!

It really does agitate the carpet, too!

Very sharp machine!

Congratulations. And Jack, thanks for the demo! I love the jet-like sound as it powers up!

Do the front wheels that appear to be a bit recessed swivel? It's hard to tell in the photo. I know the body swivels from earlier conversations on these. I'd love to try one sometime.

Steve- The front wheels do indeed swivel, which I've never seen on a modern upright. It's a great idea, and really adds to the silky-smooth swivel action of the vacuum.

Jack- Thanks for your comments on the Miele. I wanted the Cat & Dog model particularly for the lovely white color. I've noticed how well it vibrates the carpet, and I love how I can constantly hear sand flying through the dirt path as it finds deep down dirt I can't see!

There are a few things that I think could be improved. I don't like how the wand really shouldn't be used without tools (there should be a plastic ring or something on the end, to prevent damage to walls or furniture), and how the wand whistles until you put an attachment on. It's also heavier to lift up and down stairs, but that doesn't bother me. The cord is also sort of in the way when you want to pull the wand out, but really considering that they at least put the cord outlet high on the machine (like a classic Hoover), it's not bad. I feel like Miele wanted to have it all with this vacuum, and they really succeeded!

Overall I think it's a very refined and thoughtfully designed upright. I love Miele's attention to detail. My house is spotless, so I've been taking it to work, and to friend's houses just for more excuses to use it! I can't wait till it's a little warmer (and dryer) out so I can use it to clean out my car!

Thanks for your comments guys!
