I am new to the forum (I introduced myself on the Vintage board) and fairly new to collecting vacuums. I have always loved Royals and Compacts, but it seems as though Kirby is a mainstay amongst collectors.
If I were to have just one Kirby, I would love to find a ComVac, but that seems nearly impossible due to the rarity.
That said, I recall seeing a video online of a regular Heritage 1 that featured a narrow nozzle similar to a Sanitronic.
I love the looks of the older style Sanitronic nozzle, with the body of the Heritage, so I was wondering if this type of nozzle head was available for the Heritage 1, or if this particular vacuum had some sort of modification.

Unfortunately, I can no longer find that video, but I recall there was not much explanation as to why this Heritage had a non-standard nozzle.

Thanks for any help!
Best Regards
Doug

The Heritage did indeed have the small nozzle as an option, and trying to find one is one of them rare as hen's teeth things, I want one for my Heritage84... :)

I'd love to have a ComVac too, something about the Heritage colours with a 500/sanitronic series Kirby... :)

I had a feeling it must be one of those impossible-to-find variants. Oh well, despite what some people seem to think, I kind of like the look of the Heritage series. Still love the purist lines of the metal Royals, however.

Judging from your user name, you must be fond of 2CV's as well!

Thanks!
Regards and Happy New Year
Doug

I have a Heritage with a small head (Sanitronic) nozzle. I haven't restored it yet. But me, the major advantage to the small head nozzle on a Heritage is the rug plate design. The rug plate on the original Heritage nozzle is very narrow (making the opening larger). Because the plate is so thin, it can dig into the carpet (especially on Berber style carpeting), making it harder to push. The small nozzle overcomes that problem, because it still uses a wider rug plate and thus glides more easily across the carpet.

Now that's a classy looking Kirby. Sort of a happy marriage of old-style and 80's era Kirby. Love the Sanitronic look on any Kirby

Kirby Heritage I for Sale

I thought I would share my ebay sale that has been up for a few days now since this thread had a few posts about this same machine. Mine does not have the small head which my Grandparents did when I was growing up. I've decided to part with this cleaner to make room for some new ones.

Hi Andrew,

what a coincidence. I saw your beautiful Heritage 1 and emailed you about shipping. Great looking machine and well cared for. I am hoping I can afford it as I have a few pressing financial considerations at the moment

Cheers,
