Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas day. Today I found a Wards Signature Upright, which has been sitting outside for awhile.

It runs but it has quite a bit of rust and is missing the bottom plate. I would really like to know some more about this vacuum, like the year it was made?

Would it be difficult to get the motor apart and grease the bearings? The setup seems different than the newer plastic based Eureka’s.

Thanks and happy holidays,

Kenny L

Hey Kenny, I have that exact same model. I have a 1969 MW catalog, and there's a similar model in the same colors, only has the front plate for attachment conversion instead of the dial-a-nap and the cordwinder is round. So this model must be early 70's when they switched to the dial-a-nap. Any Eureka experts would probably know what year that happened. Check with a vac shop with used parts for the bottom plate. Don't you love the substancial feel of a metal based cleaner, and I love the sound of the older Eureka motors, they just purrrr! You can still find the original brushrolls for these, with the red plastic beaters if you want to keep it original.
