The old green Electroluxes are pretty, I never found one in good shape otherwise I would love to have one. But in reality my Miele Callisto is everything I could ever want in a Vacuum and more. |

How about the one that started it all? I'll take a Lux model V with detatchable runners. If you're gonna dream, might as well dream big right? ;-) |

Any of the 80 series, and I also second Sam's vote for the Model G (turquoise, tan, and/or Hospital). |

I'm going to have to go for the Commemorative Edition (sold mine off several years back), the black and bright silver accents were adorable.
My second favorite would be the Ultralux with the blue body. That Blue color really works on that model. A slight drift, but my favorite plastic body is the light baby blue and white. |

My Silverado! But I am sure that will change when I find an Olympia One, or Super J. I like the Super J style machines. |

Mine would be any of the 80 series Canadian Luxes. Next on my list would be the blue colored Ultralux Classic model 1521 series. |

Having just acquired a nice, shiny Diamond Jubilee earlier this week, my thinking is admittedly skewed by new toy infatuation. I'm really liking the sleeker aesthetic of the control panel and handles, which are far better designed than my 1205s or my Super J, even if the putty colored body is kind of bland looking. That said, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the 1205's turquoise. It's a color I will always associate with Electrolux. From a performance standpoint, I've always favored the Super J with its more powerful motor but now my Diamond J would seem to be a close rival with a much less garish appearance.
The one thing I'm not totally infatuated with on the Diamond J is the PN5 that came it. I have never cared for the L-shaped design as the 'outrigger' on the right seems to constantly catch on furniture legs. I'm sure it's a great design for wide open spaces but that's not the reality of my crowded house. The more compact designs of the three earlier PN models (of which I have one of each) just work better for my needs. |

My favorite would be the Commemorative Edition, I just love the colors on that one.
Both the Ultralux Classic and LX is very close but again I like the colors of the Commemorative better so I would call those one my 2nd favorite. 3rd favorite would be the Diamond Jubilee. 4th favorite would be the Marquis. 5th favorite would be the Silverado. Last would be the 1205. |

That's a very reasonable observation about the PN5. I thought that too when I bought my first back in the 80's(had been using the G PN1). But if you try to use it like they intended you to, it kinda grows on you. The little PN1/2's could fit about anywhere like you said, but I think the cleaning design of the PN5 to be superior...especially edge cleaning. I reply: To me, the design is just clumsy. I've sometimes wondered if "like they intended" involves being a right-handed user, which I am not. I'm left-handed so a lot of things in this backwards-to-me world don't work "like they intended" because they're optimized for right-handed use. This often includes safety features on tools that afford right-handed users a greater degree of protection than they do left-handed users. That's why I hate using a circular saw. I'll never know the answer this since they never made power nozzle that way, but perhaps that asymmetrical design would work better for a left-handed person if the outrigger were on the left. I hope I'm not sounding bitter here because I'm really not; it's just the way I experience and accept life. All that said, my favorite power nozzle is and will always be the PN2 although the PN4 comes in as a close second. |
