I recently acquired a couple of machines with the original black Kirby bags. The bag closures have lost their original rubber covers and are just the shiny metal. I'm thinking of painting them black so they don't stick out like a sore thumb. Whadya think?

I don't see what it would hurt -- you could always remove the paint if you decided you didn't like it.

Then the question would be, flat or glossy? Glossy would look prettier, especially on a buffed-out machine, but flat would look, from a distance, more like rubber.

Would love to see some photos of the bags!

Kirby bag top covers...

Hello Rick.

You might also consider making or having made a simple cloth cover that is 'loose' from the bag; and yet it will cover the metal bag top clamp.

Just a thought.

Cheers & hagn all,

Bill
