this afternoon a couple of friends came to see me today, seeing that they are collectors as well I had a Massive amount of machines to throw their way. in return I was able to ask for two dream machines I have wanted for a long time, one was a fantom thunder and the other was another eureka express, (my last one was thrown away). the thunder is a Kenmore Destiny plus and is in pretty good shape for sitting in a barn for a while. the eureka needs some cleaning but runs like the day it was bought.
both machines are in good running condition with little to no issues at all.

here is the Destiny

Mike that's great... I really liked Fantoms when they first came out and convinced several family members to get them.... I was sad when they went out of business... I bought a Thunder once at a Thrift shop, but it had no suction.... I took it all apart and couldn't find a clog anywhere, so I assumed the fan blades were bad. I threw the whole thing away without even putting it back together.... but it came with the optional extension hose and the optional extension handle (supposedly more comfortable that the stock handle, and fit right into the attachment hole) in case I ever found another one. I've never been impressed with the hose suction, but they did great on carpets. I saw a Fantom Lightening at a flea market the other day and would have gotten it if the power nozzle neck hadn't been taped together! I know that was a common problem with them.

Funny story..... when I was a child and didn't know a whole lot, I went to Sears and saw that they had a Kenmores that looked just like Fantoms.... I was horrified that Kenmore would copy Fantom and told the lady that she was going to be sued by Fantom if she kept selling that... little did I know Fantom made them for Kenmore.... I was a kid! 5 years later, I got a job at the same Sears selling vacuums with the same lady, but Fantoms were long gone by then and she didn't remember me!

About the Eureak.... Mike, do you not believe in power nozzles? I think every canister you get is missing the power nozzle.... that would drive me crazy LOL

Congrats though!

lol thanks Bobby
the eureka has the power head and so do most of my canisters, usually when I get a machine I clean it up and put it away, if I get anxious I just post a pic, this time I just posted a pic I did take one of the power head though and will include the pic with this message. there are about 13 + canisters in my collection and most of them do include the powerheads unless they are straight suction. now on to the thunder, I had one at one point but it set fire due to a problem with the wiring and what did not help was the fact that it was exposed to water, (was in the trash for a couple of days in the rain) I tried to do with it as much as I could and nothing would work right. this is my first actual working thunder and I love it so far, powerful at both the hose and at the floor with a lot of airflow. pulled about 55-60 on the meter.

here is the eureka's power head

Promotional Sticker Label? What to do?

eurekaprince's profile picture
Now you have a real dilemma: to remove the sticker from the Express or not? The industrial design of the vac is soooooo cool and sleek that the sticker kinda takes away from the beauty. Maybe keep the sticker on a nice white cardboard on file, so the vac is left nice and clean?

Power Touch Handle?

eurekaprince's profile picture
I also think the label may be inaccurate: It says that vac comes with a Power Touch handle which is a gas pump handle with controls, and your hose is has a plain regular handle. Maybe the hose is a later replacement?

Brian of course you can come on over and play with the express anytime you want.

Mike (sorry for all the posts...I'm so excited for you...wetting my pants here...)

Can we see some pics of the Vibra Groomer III brush roll removed from the power nozzle? I think it has no beater bars and just has bristle re-inforcers like Hoover's competing Quadraflex agitator. Would love to see some close-ups!

Okay .... I need to have a drink..... whew......

well funny story about this powerhead is that it was actually mine, I gave it to my friend chris when he had received an express, the express never got used so I asked him for a trade and that is what we did. I traded him a New old stock Hoover bag that was original from the 40s. It came with the excess of parts that came with my Hoover 700 from N canton Ohio. My original express to this powerhead was thrown out by mistake when my mother was cleaning out a closet in our old house a few years ago.
anyway here are some pics of the express powerhead and a central vac Sweep and groom.

Thank you so much for the pics, Mike.

So the VG III really IS a copy of the Quadraflex Agitator. Wonder if those bristle stiffeners really make any difference in cleaning ability.

I always wondered how Eureka got such a cool headlight on the the Express PN. How can they squeeze in a bulb so far forward over the revolving brush? Now I know!!!! The lens covers the plastic hood of the brush cavity and the bulb is set way back. Wonder if there is any reflective material on the hood that helps to keep things bright at the front edge of the nozzle. Is the headlight wimpy?

Anyhow - thanks for the eye candy.....Ontario is very close to NY State so I'll let you know when I can plow through the snow to get to you!!!! :-)

there is a reflective material under the hood, the headlight is not very wimpy at all which I like a lot. and the stiffeners make a Huge difference... this powerhead litterately drags me across the floor, LOL and if I am not carefull it will take off in an instant, I will post a pic of under the hood

Aha! - the old "aluminum foil on the ceiling of the power nozzle hood" trick! :-)

Be careful Mike!!! Sounds like you need a drivers' licence and insurance to run that thing!!

Good night, neighbour....the pics are wonderful - thank you so much.

LOVE VACUUMLAND!
