Anyone out here buy one of these?

I happened upon this at Home Depot the other day. I'm really not a new vac kind of person, but I do have to say- THIS REALLY CAUGHT MY ATTENTION.

I'm assuming it's LG's take on Dyson. Which, let me put my helmet on first (before I get stoned alive by all the Dyson fans here) - I just don't get.... LoL =0)

It does look much better than the hunk of over advertised, cheap plastic. I do still love James Dyson though- great man. I love Dyson vacuum cleaners because their average repair bill runs around $80, and we get on average 15 in per week now!

Consumer Reports Rating of the LG LuV300

eurekaprince's profile picture
This LG bagless upright did quite well in Consumer Reports testing. The only bagless uprights that rated better were the Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind UH70120, and the Dyson DC28 Animal.

All three of these rated "excellent" for bare floor cleaning and emissions control. All three were "very good" for carpet cleaning. All three were only "good" at handling. The LG was the quietest of the three (quieter than the Dyson). And the Hoover and the LG rated excellent at pet hair removal, whereas the Dyson only scored a "very good". For airflow through the hose for tool use, the Hoover was best (excellent), the Dyson "very good" and the LG only rated a "good". The Hoover does not have a brush roll on-off feature as the other two offer. Weights: Hoover=18 lbs, Dyson=21 lbs, LG=22 lbs. The Hoover was recalled in May 2010 due to electric shock hazards. Not sure if this has been rectified yet.

Just an interesting note, the letters "LG" stand for "Lucky Goldstar", which are the names of the two Korean companies that amalgamated to become one corporation. You use to see a lot of Goldstar computer monitors in the 1990's.

I see in the photo that the model you are looking at is the LuV200, which actually rated much worse than the LuV300. The feature that tested poorly was "handling" - for some reason, this version does not handle as easily as the LuV300. It also does not control emissions and remove pet hair as well as the higher rated machine.

The "Kompressor"..........

I'm sure was part of the attraction. It's like pushing a little Mercedes Benz around.

What a monstrosity!

Had a look at these while I was in Chicago! I guess they're great if you feel like using a behemoth the size of a Hoover Steamvac for daily vacuuming.

Customers must think they're buying an SUV! Doubt this one 'turns on a dime'!

Why, LG - what gave you the idea for that nice combo tool?

I have used one of these at sears and was really impressed with the quality that it presented. the power of the machine was great at both the tools and the floor, and the technology used to compress the dirt was pretty amazing.
