Here is a shot of our finds today. Buffalo Joe arrived this morning and we did a little thrifting and even went to the Hoover employee sales center where Joe picked up a Hoover Steam Vac and some "H", "D",and "C" bags. We found a great Hoover junior, Convertible model 719, Sunbeam bags, a floating Celebrity, a brand new 1341 tool set for a Hoover Junior and a Eureka tool set among other things. More photos to come!

Here are some "bojack" uprights that Joe brought for our cleaning competition. I wonder how these will stack up against my Hoover cleaners. We had to sneak these in under cover of darkness lest the Hoover police see us! HA!! No seriously, these are some great machines. The Singer is near mint and the Kirby Classic runs perfectly. We are not sure of the year on the GE. Anyone have any ideas as to how old it is?

Here are some tank cleaners. The one on the left is the Lux model "T" from the mid 1950's, then there is a Kenmore Cyclonic bagless, and a Lux Oxygen which is very quiet. Eureka made the Kenmore and Oxygen which was renamed from a Eureka. And of course there is the famous Buffalo Joe himself! The others are to arrive in the morning. We are off to a vac shop which should have some goodies for us and of course we have to make a stop at the famous "Hoover Historical Center" which has not contrary to popular opinion been air lifted to China! (Didn't think I would find out about that one did ya?)

Some great vacuum finds!!!

I hope Joe will bring the Electrolux Oxygen to the convention as I have been dying to try one out.

That GE is a wonderful looking vacuum. Hopefully some one here will know the age.

I am jealous of the Hoover Jr. tool set... someday perhaps I will find one.

Sounds like a great mini meet. Make sure you keep the pictures coming.

Tools

Hey Tom

Any chance of a pic of the Junior tools?? Am I correct in thinking they are possibly UK made with the Hooverflex/Ultraflex hose?.

Cheers
Seamus

More tool trivia.....

Forgot to say.....
Ive just won a Eureka tool kit looking pretty similar to that from Ebay- apparently they will fit my Electrolux Sanitaire :)- will be interesting to see what the tool suction is like on that when they come.

Thats also a pretty nice looking 719- will it be joining the others or going elsewhere??

Here they are discussing the similarities between the Hoover model O and the original Spangler model...yes, the Center is still here not yet air lifted to China!! HA! In between the O and the Spangler is the "Skinner" cleaner from 1905.

Here is Norm showing us how to set up the 1936 Hoover model 150 for tool use...these old Hoovers are so easy to use!

Here is Norm demonstrating the model 84 Connie...note that great rug nozzle. The 63 upright next to it was unusable due to a deteriorated cord. Too bad...we all wanted to run that one as it was one of our favorites.

Here is Corey checking out the 1170 DAM serial number 0000001001...yes folks that is the first one off of the line! Norm is looking on...We all ran this one around. It was previously run by our Jeff Parker as he has a unique way of winding the cord. Sorry Jeff but we wound it back in a figure 8...

Here we are back home again now that we have visited Morrison's Sweeper and the HHC. Wow what a day so far. Now we have the glam shot of some of our finds... a bicentennial Eureka and an ESP Eureka plus LOADS of bags...I found some nice original Hoover Commercial bags and LARK bags among others...Hoover tool sets...lots of stuff! Thanks Ed!

Here is Jeff's 1953 Royal...wow what a great machine...it just inhaled the dots. It is very manuverable as it only uses one stationary rear wheel. This machine really cleaned well and sounded great. It is built to last a lifetime. Thanks Jeff for bringing it to share.

Here is our very own Buffalo Joe watching the cleaning action of his beautifully restored Kirby Classic III...hey where did the dots go???? He and little Glenn had a vacuum-o-rama earlier with Joe using his Singer and little two year old Glenn using the Kirby...wow did they clean that rug!

Here is the gang again...this time joined by Jimmy the washer guy! Jimmy is checking out Corey's tricked out Hoover Guardsman circa 1984 with the CWP brushroll. Jimmy seemed to enjoy himself here. Jimmy says "Hey there is no place to put the detergent!...but very cool!" Thanks to Jimmy for bringing the Firestone Apex and his unused brand new Wards Signature canister. (aka Eureka Princess)

Here is Corey doing a Riccar demo...everyone loved the Brilliance machine. It was very well demonstrated and better yet, it was a very well built vacuum MADE in the USA and it picked up dots like crazy! You guys gotta check one of these machines out. It just goes to show you that a well made vacuum CAN be made right here. Thanks Corey for your expertise on this one!

Here is a closer look at the Brilliance...a dual fan (direct and indirect air) machine...very nice!

Dots versus Riccar...the Riccar won hands down! It is a bagged machine too which is even better!

Back In New York.....

Well, all good things have to end and I'm now back in Western NY and its snowing! Yuck!!

I has a great time at Tom's. He and his wife were very good hosts. I had a blast vacuuming along side his 2 year old son, Glenn. It was great to finally meet Norm, Corey and Jimmy. It was also good to see Jeff again.

So now all my vacs survived the ride home and the new finds of mine are out in the barn at my workbench awaiting restoration. I did get a nice Hoover Model 67 Convertible from Tom as well as a robin egg blue Hoover Slimline. He even threw in a Denim bagged convertible too. Thanks again, Tom.

Again, I had a great time and it was great to meet some of the members from here in Vacuum Land and Washer Land. Great people. BTW Jimmy and I were talking '67 Whirlpool washers. Has that bug bit me????

Thanks again Tom for the great gathering.

Joe

That Goes For Me, Too!

hygiene903's profile picture
I had a great time at Tom's, too!! It was good to see Tom & Heather, Joe, and Norm again, and a pleasure meeting Corey and Jimmy. Also was nice to visit the Hoover Historical Center again, much different from the last time I was there. Morrison's Sweeper Shop was interesting although I didn't find much I was looking for.
Tom & Heather served us a delicious supper of chili and homemade bread, and Norm brought brownies for dessert, and we had fun running vacs and visiting. And Joe wasn't the only one who benefitted from Tom's generosity, as he gave me a Hoover 475, and a pair of wands for my model 40 Lewyt, and went over my Hoover 29, detailing it and replacing the cord guard and belt. The 475 will be a cherished addition to my collection, as it's the only round top Hoover I have, and (in my opinion) one of the two most beautiful models of that style of Hoover.
So THANK YOU TOM, for the fun day, the great food, the beautiful Hoover, and for hosting a great gathering!
Jeff
P.S. Ran into white-out conditions west of Massilon, but other than that, had a good trip home.

Thanks for all of the great messages! I had a great time sharing my collection with some great folks. I am glad that everyone made it home safely with the bad weather. Ohio weather changes at the drop of a hat. I just wish we had more time! It went so fast. I really enjoyed running the vacuums and seeing how each one performed. No one would believe that I had all of those bojacks in my living room! They were great machines and it is real hard to pick a favorite. Thanks Norm for bringing all of your vintage Eureka information. You have an amazing collection of paper there. Thanks to everyone who was there for making it something very memorable. We will have to do this again...maybe when the weather is not so SNOWY!!!

Great Mini Meet!!

The weekend was fantastic, Thanks to Tom and his wonderfull
family for dealing with all the vacuums, noise and yes, lots
of good laughs too! The food was great but the with the great
company of good friends it was grand dinnig, even at Wendys!
Tom thanks for the 587, 719 (really like that machine) all
vauums are great additions to my collection that just keeps
growing (like jack and his beanstock!). Yes, there was snow
on the way back but it was managable. I would do it again
in an OHio Min.even with the snow and cold!
Hopefully you will not have to do much vacuuming to clean up!
Norm

To vintagehoover--

Hello, Jack,
Sorry, but even though I had my camera with me, I didn't get around to taking a shot of the 475. I tried mostly to get pictures of what was going on.
However, one of these days I need to get around to taking pictures of my collection, and when I do, the 475 will definitely be included! By the way--love your website!!
Also wanted to mention that in the photo where I am running my Royal, my model 39 Regina can be seen in the background.
Jeff

PS. I'm glad you like my website! I'm working on some new pages for it at the moment, so keep your eye out for new material in the near future!
