I'm not sure if this goes in the vintage category but I figure it's in an area with more views.

I got this at an AuBon sale in South St. Louis County back in April and when I first saw it downstairs I thought "oh another 4195" but I looked at it up close and thought "holy crapballs this is that boxtop Hoover I've seen in the schematics and thought it was a pipedream." I had my $10 whipped out so fast it'd make your head spin.

The only time I've seen boxtop Convertibles of any kind were the burgundy JCPenney badged model and the Western Auto badged model, but never an actual Hoover labeled model. The previous owner had it last serviced at Crestwood Appliance Center as noted by the sticker on the handle, a familiar place to both me and John Pease, but more for John as he has his mixers serviced there.

It runs great and Stephen had a chance to fiddle around with it on my basement rug when he came to visit last month.

With the bag out, and unlike the other 2 boxtops, this one has the push on bag tube.

Data plate

The addition of the -001 indicates the A bag model. U4195s were C bag models.

The twins together

Here's both the A and C bag models together. My C bag model is unusual in that the bag design resembles that of the 4103 Convertible Estate/Elite, and the one I gave Stephen has the same design as the A bag model as have many other 4195s I have seen, so I'm at a loss for words here.

Like I said Dennis, I and a few others have never seen a boxtop Convertible that was actually a Hoover labeled one. I know Venture sold the C bag 4195 for at least 3-4 years in the early 80's but I wonder who would've sold the A bag?

That machine is an anomily, and I suppose was made to compete with the Eureka machines?

I'd love to have a ranger hood box top like that!

There is a listing on Zillow right now for a dilapidated cabin on a campground (its actually a travel trailer with 2 mobile home additions on it), and guess what is sitting inside it (photo 2)?

Wish you could contact these realtors and just ask to buy stuff inside and not the house.

Hoover in cabin

I have never seen or had this model. On a similar note there is a mid century vacation house by I think Marcel Bruer in NY that started with and includes a travel trailer(similar to Airsteam).
