I have a hoover concept model u4203 I think it is the BOL model but I would love some more info on this. First is whenever I use it I am amazed how quiet it is for a dirty air machine if you have the same model and the ability to make videos I would love it if I could compare yours sound to mine. Second I noticed when I was looking at the bottom there is a big hole right by where the belt is so if the machine was running you could stick your finger into the belt, is there suposed to be a cap or something? and the hole looks factory cut not like it was some freek acident or something that gouged a perfect round hole into the machine. And finally I would love to know the date on this machine. Any info is greatly apreciated.
Thanks! Scott

well, I would never call my Concept quiet, powerful, yes. My belts are covered by the brush bar plate, long L shaped. I have a model U 3315, I think rather late model for that machines run, guessing very late 80s?

Mine has a small hole by the belt too, and I think thats okay. Concepts are one of the best vacuums I've ever used, and I mean it. Look at this page:

One of my favorite cleaners, it really gets the job done. I had forgotten how much it brings the heavy carpet back to life, never mind the memories. Love it!!!

Scott, the hole near the belt is for the Power Drive transmission pulley as the housing is used for both PD and non-PD Concepts.

As far as stats, it came from the first Concept series from 78-85/86ish and was practically the no frills budget model of the Concepts; no headlight, cordreel, or power drive but still had a 2 speed motor and a price tag from $130-$170.

oh, Alex

Thats the model Concept I've been searching for years. Thats the vac I grew up with in our church(they still use it weekly), as well as several neighbors had them.

Hi Alex!

I'm glad you are here! Is this a Sovereign I see?

Yes Dennis, that is a Sovereign, it works but needs a new carbon brush motor housing and I don't know if the part numbers are interchangeable with the TurboPower. Can any of the Brits help me out here please?

I saw a concept just like that at a yard sale earlier today but I didn't buy it because it had a hole in the bag and it was $30 which was way to much for it I think!
