I have an opportunity to purchase a brand new Hoover Windtunnel " Air" upright at London Drugs on sale for for $ 199.00 It looks to be built prety sturdy and had a washable filter. Does anyone have one of these??

I have one and absolutely love it. It is a very good deep cleaner, and has pretty good suction to. But if you go to Walmart, they are only $188

I bought one about 2 months ago. I really like mine. There are a few things that annoy me, though: The first is that it's one of those models that has no step-on handle release, so, to clean a throw rug that you have to lift the vacuum onto, you have to lift with two hands....one to hold the handle, one to hold the motor body.

But....This thing is really a deep cleaner. It pulled stuff out of my rug that my Kenmore Progressive/Panasonic powerteam didn't get out. It's a good bare floor cleaner, too.

The other annoying thing: it comes with an extension hose that gets clipped to the end of the (short) standard hose, so you have this cobbled-together hose system. And, the combo tool/s are not that great. But, really, you probably have above-the floor cleaners for tool jobs, eh?

Anyway, all in all, a good vacuum in today's vacuum world. I bought mine at Walmart, too, for $188.

Concerning the area rug issue, I have never had that problem. With all of my rugs, it just pushes right onto it, without putting the handle up. And my step handle release is strong enough to where you can wheel it around on the back wheels only. I am wondering if that was a problem that was later fixed or not.
