As promised in the Electrolux G thread, I took some photos of my XXX after-market disposable bag chamber. Rather than posting the photos here one at a time, I set up a web page instead. See link.

Souped up Lux XXX

Charles-Richard
I really like your souped up Lux 30. I have often thought
of putting a later model motor in one but just never did it.
It should be a great and fun vacuum to use with the orginal
tools.
Thanks for Sharing
Norm

Ahh, Charles!

Thank you so much for doing this (for me??)! HAHA! Well, I do appreciate being able to learn just how (and what the heck it was) it works! It looks very odd on the machine. So it IS original Lux! I just love the idea! BTW: do they make moleskin anymore? If I were to make a bag or filter (in the case of a Lewyt), I would either line it or make it out of moleskin. I will look around. Thanks for the pics! Very cool!

Charles,
I think part of the reason the chamber didn't catch on that well is that in the same time period, they were also making paper bag inserts that were placed inside the cloth bag. No alterations to the cleaner itself were necessary, and they were both cheap and readily available. Of course, you either had to thoroughly clean your cloth bag or buy a new one before using them.

That could be.

I hadn't thought about the people who put paper bags inside their cloth bags. Because that doesn't make sense to me -- it sure does cut down on the suction!
