Do we have any Rexair Rainbow experts that know about the newest Rainbow motor that is brush less and has the new sound reduction technology to decrease the noise level by 35%.
I have been reading about the E2's and many comments were about the noise level of the early E2s.
Do any of the others have the Rainbow Chrome door storage rack? It is designed for the new E2 but it also can be used for my 18 year old SE Rainbow.

okay first I would like to say that rainbow of yours is beautiful! and second I have the 2010 model rainbow and it does seem quieter than the older ones in fact when I turned it on for the first time I thought there might be something rong with it because I remembered the sound of the older ones.

Thanks, that is good to hear! Must be some truth to what I read. I bought mine new almost 18 years ago on a home demonstration. I would be interested in the new machine if they have introduced a quieter motor as you stated.
Now if they would just add a light to the power nozzle!

Hi Rob,

Just a heads up. If you do get a new E2 Rainbow, don't get rid of your SE. I have an SE PE and an E Series. I put my E Series in storage and just use my SE PE. I am glad I had it to go back to. My SE PE actually has a little and I mean little better suction, but mostly I find it's water pan is much easier to clean. With the e series water pan, getting to the suction inlet to clean the clear plastic is a pain....I also don't know whether the hepa filter is a must. I always make sure not to vacuum non wettable materials. My exhaust port on the SE PE is never dirty when I check it. I will say this, the E Series is easier to empty than the SE PE water pan.

Thanks Bud,
This is what makes our forum so interesting. You can always learn new information from other members.
The exhaust port on my SE is just as clean as the day I bought the System 18 years ago. I have heard several different stories about the hepa filter. It is my understanding that it is washable.
It is NOT true of the vac collectors BUT in the real world the advantage I see with the Rainbow would be that every time the customer gets it out-they have continuous full suction and air flow.
I have a friend who has a vac shop and I was shocked to see what condition customers would bring their machines in with over filled bags, dust cups and clogged filters.
Although my Rainbow is not my most favorite vac, I will have to say that I NEVER have dust on the tables or blinds the next day.
It's nice we still have a vacuum company that has been in business for a long time and makes one fine product.
The longer I am in the club the more it seems that their is no perfect machine for every customer or every application.
I am going to have to take a look at a new Rainbow.

Im very curious to hear more about the new Rainbow. There is very limited information on their website, and I find that they arent discussed nearly as often here on the forum as other machines. I saw a youtube video of the E2 2 speed model and I was shocked by the noise of the motor, I would not want to use one in my house with that high pitched whining noise. The new motor that was mentioned sounds like its a huge improvement over the previous one and I would love to hear more about it. BTW I have never used a Rainbow but they do seem like very interesting vacuums, they just are not very popular in this area. One of my friends mother had an SE PE and there house was spotless, they even had a big golden retreiver and there was not the slightest trace of dog smell in their house. I would love to try one out one day!

New Rainbows

If the motor in a new Rainbow is quieter then the previous model, I might just have to buy one. I hate my old E2 two speed series because it is so loud.My old SE Performance Edition Rainbow from the 90's is a much quieter machine. And I can't really tell any difference in the suction between the two machines.....

Well guys I got some information about the new Rainbow Blue Platinum "whisper"motors from someone who is an expert on Rainbow Systems

Advatages of new Rainbow Blue Platinum motor are as follows:
(1) no brushes
(2) no bearing to get noisy under the spider
(3) no heat damage to windings
(4) no commentator segments to fail
(5) new accoustic lining to quiet motor sound
(quiet as old Filter Queen 31)
This is what an earlier poster also said about his new 2010 Rainbow

also found out the following:

D4,SE & PE have 65 water lift

new Blue Platinum has 95 water lift

now I want to see and hear one!

Does anyone know the CFM's of the Rainbows? I thought I had heard 65CFM for the older D2 etc. and closer to 80 for the newer ones. Just wondering if anyone knows for sure.

Rainbow motors

Harley,
I got an old video out that was given to me by a club member showing a Rainbow training demo. The model is an SE (I think)and they state it has 72 cfm. Of course this is constant air-flow unlike most other cleaners.
I have noticed many of my other vacuums (like my Dysons and Hoover Windtunnels) seem to keep the strong suction but lose a lot of air flow as the bag starts to fill.
