What model Convertible is that? 70? The add looks older than for a 70, and a Dial-a-Matic is not shown. The color blue on the Convertible yet white handle is confusing me. And my bigger question is why was the Connie of that year not blue?

Chris

That's a model 69 Convertible. The Constellation pictured is a model 88, and it's the same "fawn" color as the model 67 Convertible. The later variation of the model 86 Constellation was the same color blue as the model 68 Convertible... neither of which are pictured in that ad.

That Convertible IS a 70

The 70 was the model that changed from larger badge to smallbadge. The Connie is orange. I have both the fawn and the orange. Everyone was amazed that the Connie's color didn't correspond.

Plus,

the floorwasher and the pixie are the same color: not as dark as that 70. The 69 is in the teal family.

I'm going to disagree.

I'm certain that they're models 69 and 88.

I just went and pulled that ad out of my ad folders.. flip it over and it says in print that it's from Better Homes & Gardens, December 1962. The model 70 wasn't started in production until 12/7/1964. And the all-orange model 444 Constellation wasn't in production until 11-1-1963. The Model 444 Constellation also did not have gold front trim, a red flip switch and a matched rug nozzle.

For reference

It's one of my favorite ads..

Thanks Guys !

You can see why I was confused. The ad is clearly from earlier in the 60s than the model 70, but the color of the "69" does not have enough green in it. They must have modified it slightly to better match the other products.

They might as well have hit the Connie w/ some blue paint too. Every time I see this one, the Connie is distracting in that pic.

It also may be...

The quality of the scan, of the POD. Looking at my ad, live, in front of me, it looks more like the model 69's coloring.

You're right

I am looking at this at work now as opposed to home and it looks a little more like a 69 here. Probably depends on multiple things. The mystery is solved. Thanks.

could have been a marketing thingy to make the connie stand out and get noticed and get more sold

never seen a blue connie other than aqua, was there a darker blue one, if so it must look nice !
