This is the first vacuum I remember us owning as a child. I remember when I was 3 or 4, and she had it out, I would pick up the hose and pretend I was vacuuming. One day, when I was in my zone, she snuck up behind me and turned the vacuum on. It scared the living daylights out of me, but didn't cure me of my love for vacuums. I remember about a year later when my Mom died, Dad had packed us up to move to Florida. When the movers were there, I drug out the vacuum and refused to move until I saw them pack it up in the box and put it on the truck. What a brat, huh?

Anyway, about the vacuum, ours was probably BOL, because it didn't have a power mate, and just the standard attachments. I have been looking a long time and haven't found one. If anyone has one for sale, or knows where I may be able to find one, I'd really appreciate the help.

Joe

That looks like a nice old Kenmore vacuum-hope you can find one.Loved how you waited for the movers to pack the machine and take it with them.

I found one!

A gentleman named Michael Frey on the automatic washer site had one that was also a childhood voc for him. While this is a slightly newer machine than my Mom had, it is the same body style and the attachments and hose are almost identical. I can't wait to recieve it.

Another picture

The tool caddy is slightly different, but that's OK. Here are the attachments. All are identical to the attachments my Mom's machine had except for the dusting brush. Hers had a triangular shaped dusting brush.

And another

Also, this is a two speed machine, as Mom's was a single speed machine. Mom's also did not have the performance indicator on the lid like this one.

And finally ...

Here it is all together. The only thing missing is the carrying handle on the canister body. That's OK because Mom's fell off too. Maybe someday I'll find the handle.

Are bags still available for this machine? I forget what type bag it takes.

There was no handle on top

IIRC the handle is actually an indent on the bottom front of the canister. My aunt also had one of those that a friend gave to her, hers was also a BOL with the triangle dusting brust and single speed. Hers was missing the "carpet" nozzle but she just used the floor brush on the rugs.
Hers may have been a bit older as it had a softer vinyl hose rather than a harder plastic.
That is a nice vacuum. Im glad you found it!

There should still be bags that fit. Sears NO: 5011 and/or 5063? Im unsure of the 63 # but they are the bags for the suqare Whirpool made canisters that have the hose on the front, and those are still available.
Sears changed there numbers to letters 2 or 3 years ago but the package will say the letter and in small print what the letter replaces.

Thanks Guys,

Actually, I think that is a replacement hose. Mom's had a soft vinyl hose as well, and it had split a few times. I remember my gramps fixing it with black electrical tape before he finally got it replaced. The handle I was referring to actually was attached to the base of the machine under the suction port. It was held on by two small screws, like the one in the picture in my first post. It's no biggie. In fact it makes it even more like my Mom's machine. :-)

Yes! That is it exactly.

Except my Mom's had an off white top. But other than that, that is it.

That machine...

Also came with a off white top section and a darker brown/tan bottom.

Joe, what a beautiful machine you are getting!! Those attachments look to be near mint!! I believe if you go into Sears and look at their charts for bags you will still be able to get what you need. Congratulations!!

Terry

Thanks Terry

I am so excited. I can't wait to get it. I won't use it as a daily driver. It will be a display machine. I will run it periodically just to hear it and it will be with me until the day I die.
