Let's pretend I fell off the turnip truck last night in front of a Kirby distributorship and I walked in and bought a new machine complete full price. How much would I spend for it? Reason I ask is a friend of mine bought a "new" machine with renovator about 4 years ago with a g series trade in and I think she got taken to the proverbial cleaners. I'll explain more when I get to my laptop that I can type on.

Most of the time, if you get the proverbial hungry salesman, you should be able to buy one for about 800.00....I think they cost the distributor around 600.00 currently. When they walk in your door they start about 1600.00-1800.00. I remember when a dealer was selling his leftover Diamond Editions new in-box for 500.00 after the Sentrias came out, but don't think it came with the rug renovator, just the basic attachment set.

My mom paid $2200 for our new Sentria. And we traded in an old vacuum to. We definitely got ripped off. My aunt and uncle payed $800 for their brand new Ultimate G Diamond Ed. with NO trade in. I don't know how they did it.

It depends

On the salesperson and how hungry they are for a sale. Kirby occasionally offers bonuses for monthly sales and if a salesperson is close, they may be willing to forgo commission to meet the bonus quota.

They do not cost the distributor $600. The current wholesale price of a Kirby Sentria and attachments is $390 and the shampooer is $40. Oops, my bad Kirby!

Sounds like anywhere from $400 to $800 is possible, though if buying from dealer it will be on the higher end. It might improve once (or IF!!!) a new Kirby model ever comes out and they have in stock Sentrias to get rid of.

I have always had better luck going directly to the Kirby dealership and stating that I do not want a home demo and I want to buy right then and there if the price is right. In 05 I got my NIB Diamond with rug cleaner and standard (but generous) attachment set for around $700. That isn't a great price but it was significantly less than my Miele S7 and I think I got far more for my money with the Kirby and I know I'll have it for ever. For what ever reason I had to have a new Kirby that very day and wasn't willing to fiddle around with ebay. Plus, I like the legit purchase from and ongoing relationship with the dealer.

The last Kirby demo I had was in September 2007, The salesman started off at $1600 for the Sentria, attachments and shampooer. I had him talked down to about $650 for the Sentria, shampooer, handi-butler, turbo tool, zip brush, polisher head, and a gallon of shampoo. I was ready to write out a check for it and he had the nerve to say something rude to me and I sent him on his way
