I bought my first Super J model 1401 at a local thrift shop. It is in realy goood condition and has a strong running motor. I did a little experiment. I removed the hose from the vacuum. I then placed my hand over the suction inlet and turned on the vac. It has about a good meduim suction. I turn the vac off. I then place rubber tube just fitting on the inside of the suction inlet with a tight seal. I turn the vac on and place my hand over the end of the rubber tube. Wow!! NOW, the suction is verrrry strong. Very interesting. I want to put a new hose on the vacuum now. I have two questions:

!. If get a replacement hose to fit this lux, will that hose bea sealed properly like the rubber tube did?

2.. I have the original lux hose, how difficult/ easy is it to fit a new hose onto these original hose ends?

Brad,

I have a generic replacement hose on my Super J, it seals well it has great suction.

As for fitting a new hose into the hose ends, it probably isnt easy since the hose should be a direct-connect electric hose.

Brad,

Steel City Vacuum Supply offers a hose that is almost identical to the realy Lux replacement at a third of the cost. It is a vinyl hose and you will like it much better than the current cloth hose you have for the machine.

The Super J is a great machine.

Thanks Morgan

Thank you for your suggestion. I really appreciate that and was very kind of you. By chance does the City vacuum supply have a website or where are they located?

Thanks

Brad.

Woven hoses are very attractive but…

The vinyl hoses are so much easier to maneuver. Great purchase!!
