I'm either extremely out of the loop- or Aerus just pumped out the inbred and disfigured child of an Epic and Guardian.

I didn't know that either! I like how it kind of looks like that older 80's models.

Honestly, their whole line looks retro. I think this is the beginning of the end of "Aerus."

New Aerus

The new machine came out early this year, as someone else said above there was a huge thread about it. The machine looks more like a modified Ambassador/Diplomat rather than a new machine from the ground up. Supposedly it is a good machine, but the price tag is unreal, certainly much to high for its less than stellar preformance.

Its a shame that Aerus doesn't put more effort into developing and evolving their machines. Im sure they could come up with a really wonderful machine which could justify their lofty price tags. I doubt it comes close to the preformance of a TOL Miele and the new Guardian is much more expensive than the Miele.

Maybe they've gone back to simpler machines due to all the complicated electronics of the older renny's and guardians. It costs a fortune to fix one of those if the hose and inner electronics of the canisters fail. I know, someone gave me a renny and I was excited until I found out it was going to cost over 200.00 to fix it up. Needless to say, it's in my basement with other challenged machines for future restoration. A new power nozzle design might've been a good option on the new models, I've never felt like they've done an exceptional job at deep cleaning, same with their uprights.

The new Guardian Ultra is still electronically controlled but without the variable speed. It is preset to shut the machine off and illuminate the bag light at a predetermined set point. This one also comes with a HEPA filter. The Legacy still has the Cleaning Selector and on board tools but only an after filter.

I was at my Aerus dealer last month to get a bottle of shampoo and walked out with a new Legacy canister, extra set of wands and a combo tool for an amazing price. It's still in the box and most likely will stay there along with the Silverado that was never used. Other than the uprights, the last Electrolux I bought new was the very last metal Ultra Lux. I simply could not wrap my mind about a plastic body Lux canister. But I must say I have worked on and used hundreds of them and they really are good machines. Times change and people want lighter weight, etc. It took a while but I do appreciate the plastic body.

I was also told that Aerus is going to introduce a new Guardian next month that has a redesigned power nozzle and a few other improvements and changes. I hope they bring back the Cleaning Selector on the Guardian. That was a signature feature that many people used, while others simply cranked it to the max to pack the bag as full as possible. Personally I don't like the preset indicator. All of my Electrolux machines are set to 2 and I can always tell when it is going to pop open or shut off before it does by the loss of suction.

Personally i dont want them to bring back the Cleaning Selector for the future TOL model because i have had many problems with the one on my Electrolux 2100 to the point where i disabled it

The control board and all the issues were corrected.
