British?

The one who posted the ad could be of British decent. Across the pond, "Hoover" is used generically to refer to all vacuum cleaners. They also refer to vacuuming as "Hoovering". Just a thought. But then, the guy may not have a clue!

My guess is they're probably clueless. The vacuum cleaners I've seen on eBay listed by sellers in the U.K. usually are identified "Kirby Hoover," "Electrolux Hoover" etc. etc. which of course to non-Brits is amusing and maybe a bit confusing.

The vacuum in truth is a Kirby Classic 1-CR.

Since the U.K. folks call an Electrolux an "Electrolux Hoover" and a Kirby a "Kirby Hoover," why don't they call a Hoover a "Hoover Hoover" ??! hahahha

I've noticed how there is an element of truth in this. In particular, there seems to be a lot of talk about Henry Hoovers, so much so that I'm in danger of saying it myself..

Speaking of Henry Hoovers, I've always wanted one of these:

I think Charles would work MUCH better if he had a powernozzle!!That tool being used looks like TOO much work for carpet and INEFFECTIVE!Charles is a pretty neat little vacuum--Any US dealers for these?
