well now that I am starting to get things out of storage little by little, here is a machine that I forgot that I had. a regina housekeeper from 1990 and bought from service merchandise. I like the way these clean however since this was previously discussed the quality kind of lacks.
enjoy the photos

thanks, I did some work on it last night and got the handle mechanism to work again, motor is really strong running and for a plasti vac it pulls a constant 30 on the meter.

pretty good, although I heard these were market flops.

yea I heard that too, and reasoning is because they were flimsy, especially the handle and they were expensive. it was kind of a shock to see that there was really no wear on this machine. must not have gotten a lot of use

I used to work at a Holiday Inn.

I did the books. I saw lots of them there. They were underwhelming. But, it was compounded by the way the housekeeping staff used them, too. I was dying to get some of the staff and have a lesson on cleaning. A worker is only as good as his/her tools. Well, to a point.

These "Houskeeper" vacs are another example of a "dumpster vac"When it dies-you buy another one or a better brand vacuum.Seen so many of these spend the last part of their lives in the dumpster. These ARE NOT intended for commercial use-just household use only.

Maybe 30 years ago. Now they are highly collectible. One just sold on eBay for $250 a few months back. I've never seen one myself in all my years of collecting. I only have two Regina vacuums in my collection. The hand vac, and the stick vac that is exceptionally rare.

Such a shame these Housekeepers never did well in the market, they were cool looking uprights and thought the designs were neat.

Why would you pay high dollar for such a crappy vacuum?NOT "collectable" to me.Guess to some these can be collectable since so many of them that died ended up in the landfill. There are so many other better vacuums out there than the Housekeeper.

I think you’re right about the landfill theory….

For example, the Edsel was a dismal failure for Ford in the 1950’s, but collectors are paying big bucks for them if fully restored.
