Roombas, I have the 400 model and it is the lowest grade model you can get and I think it is ok but you really need virtual walls and the roomba docking station to get the most out of it. pros: it cleans OK, it gets under the bed, it pre cleans for your main vac. cons: it costs alot, you have to move things, without the docking station you have to watch it, it is batery powered and it takes FOREVER!! now as I understand it alot of these problems can be solved if you buy the higher end models or some attatchements but that was my personal experience. so what do you think?

I have a Roomba Red and I had a blue and gray one. They are fun, but the batteries go bad so fast. I put the virtual walls on all of the exits in my kitchen and made it clean in there because it did good on the barefloors and rugs.

Hey Scott

I've followed these since they came out, but could never bring myself to abandon the traditional vacuum. I would miss the grip of the machine in my hands, hearing the motor fire up, ability to create neat and straight vacuum lines in the carpet and the satisfaction of looking at a spotless floor afterward and the pride that I get from doing it myself. As the years have gone by, I already had to give up the fun of seeing the bag inflate except on a few models. This was my favorite part when I was a kid.

Now on the other hand, scrubbing floors does not nearly please me as much as vacuuming carpet, so I might be willing to consider the floor washing robot, I believe it's the Scooba.

I have to say that roombas are VERY fun to watch and a litle electric motor fires up when you push the button but the floor washing roboots I have heard they are not good for techured floors.

Roomba!

 I got a 400 discovery at a yard sale 2 days ago for 5 dollars. She thought the battery was bad, but its not. The only problem is the wire like brush won't spin, when I remove that brush, its gears will spin, but it won't. Other wise it works perfect.

 Maybe I'll reconsider and try one, Scott. You are a good marketer. Might be good for in between cleaning with the big guns since I mentioned on your other thread that I don't get time to vacuum every day. Plus the fun at my house would be seeing the cat's reaction to it.

I would recomend......

 The higher end models because they have auto untangle features like a self cleaning brush, if it gets tangled in cords/fringes it will untangle itself, you can program it to clean when you want it every day and if they come with the docking station it will automaticly come back when it is done or when its charge gets low so it will every day clean at a ceartain time all by itself and return and charge automaticly and all you have to do is empty it.

I had one I did not like it,they are no substitute for a vacuum.

I've never had one but I would think they might be fun to have to just use on a daily basis. I am sure that you would still need to do a really good vacuuming at least weekly. I wonder how many people out there have this as their only vacuum?
