I just recently purchased an Electrolux AP-280 on E-Bay. How old of a machine is an AP-280? My machine is Brown, with the top handle trim in Butterscotch Gold, with the Blower compartment door in white. I would like to check it over. However, I don't see any screws. Does this machine come apart like a Hi-Tech 2100? I just have the machine only.

I am not positive, but I believe that the AP280 was made between 1982 and 1984...

The AP series are what led to the 2100 series and its variances (the true first was the E2000), as internally they are almost identical (though the AP's use a two-stage motor), and they do infact open up the same as the 2100's and its counterparts...

To Pete

Hi, Pete--I'm Nathan, I actually got my AP-280 from an individual in Coral Springs, FL. I got it pretty reasonably, for less than $10.00. By the time I paid for the shipping it was about $45.00, which isn't too bad. If I can find my digital camera, I'll try and post a picture of it. It's really not a bad looking machine.

I bought a brand new AP280 in 1981 when I lived in Toronto. It was 2 colours only - the sides were chocolate brown and the trim and top was an ivory almost white colour. If yours is the same as the one I saw on Ebay then I believe it has been 'redone' by someone.
