Hi,

Seeing as Royal had sold a couple of models that lasted well into the 1980s, such as the 880 upright and the Prince 501 hand vacuum, could anyone please enlighten me with what bag designs the company had used in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s?

I believe Royal started using the three-rectangle plaque that had the Royal crown logo on top, the name Royal written five times in the middle rectangle, and the duty rating (consumer models have "QUALITY SINCE 1905") on the bottom rectangle, in 1985 or 1986. Before that the bags had the Royal crown logo followed by the vertically read R-O-Y-A-L letters, the latter done up in different fonts.

I also would like to know when Royal's commercial uprights used gray bags for the first time.

Thank you,

Ben Edge
