To me, at least. I didn't know these existed. This is a Vortech Force. In the same bin with the machine were some hoses and so on marked "Ghibli" and at first I wondered what this was all about. After looking at the bottom of the Vortech machine, I could see that Ghibli is the Italian company that made it, so I took the hoses and stuff with it. There were two hoses, one electric, one not, a non-power floor nozzle and some wand sections. No PN or any other tools. The machine is sort of a knock off of the Compact, only larger and made out of some kind of high-impact plastic. This one is in good working order, but is missing one of the front caster wheels and only God knows where I'll find one of those. It seems to have all kinds of suction power; the hoses are rather cheaply made.

Another picture of the Vortech. I don't know when these things were made. This machine would clean up nicely. Notice the white dust on it. This is probably from dry-wall debris, which is a sure sign of when a canister vac hits the skids. To their credit, the previous owner emptied the bag (for a change).

I recently got one of these too

Here it is pictured with a Dyson. I do not recall ever seeing it on sale in shops, and was also interested in its resemblence to a Compact. When I got mine its suction was not good, when I opened it up the bag was completely full! I doubt if it has ever been emptied. It does perform well, and the PN is very manoeverable and although the machine moves around easily it feels a lot more bulky than teh Compact

vortech force is the "twin" to the compacts/tristar... that is an older one though. i actually like that dyson canister there

had an in-house demo of those

and I was impressed! Actually I thought the Tristars were a remake of the Ghibli Vortech *gg* (until I watched Gataca and found this forum here, that is....)

Anyway, I found this machine awesome, if I'd had more money that day I would've bought one.
They are sold door-to-door here, but it doesn't seem they are doing overly well.
(Vorwerk and Lux being the two top brands here in d2d, followed by Hyla/Rainbow/Delfin and Kirby, then comes Vortech).

I have a few of these Vortech vacuums in my collection-bought them from a former Vortech dealer. They are nice and powerful machines-their powernozzles are TERRIBLE though-a switch in the unit goes bad the handle switch. When you have the handle wand upright the roller brush shuts off.The switch in these nozzles fail frequently-andthey are a PAIN to replace. This vacuum-like the Compact-Tristar is a member of the vertical bag canisters-others are Miracle Mate,Schottler Engineering Patriot. The plastic body of these machines is a fiberglass reinforced nylon-tough and strong-one of the few plastic body machines thats good.
