Hi all I won a Hoover Turbopower U2336 on ebay and the person did not pack it in transit and it turnned up like this...

The back was smashed and they took the handle off to box it up and ripped the top off instead. Also the front bag door was also nearly tore in half as well as the trunion/the part that holds the bellows in place.

On the bright side the hood and wheels are ok. lol

I'm sure ill be able to get replacements easy enough... NOT!:o{

NIGHTMARE

James dude,

That is just sooooooooooo wrong. The 2336 is known to be made of glass, but this is ridiculous.

Will email you later. Bloody shoddy packing.

I presume you are going to try to get something back?

Happy hoovering,

Clark.

If you are on Windows Live, find me via my email address. :D Anyone else who wants to add me, feel free would be good to catch up.

I had a Hoover Z come from Ebay that was messed up due to poor packing too... so disappointing. I'm sorry that happened to you.... Hope you get all your money back. Did you tell the seller? What was their response?

Thats disgraceful... I would be sending it back.

I had a red one that colour that I sold on ebay... was in mint condition and I had put a new motor and brushroll in it.

Still got a spare new motor now.

They are fragile so I packed it in a box with loads of bubble wrap and lots of old pillows to cushion it with.

That's Terrible!

Is that the same model as the Innovation, here in the US?

The model James has was sold as a Sovereign althout I dont think that colour made it across the pond.

Here it was called the Turbopower.

The Innovation was sold here as the Turbomaster.

OUt of all the turbopowers the strongest ones were the one with the cloth bag.. however they lacked tools.

My parents had the grey turbpower plus you show in the picture it had two speeds.

Wow!

Those are all such gorgeous machines! And in such wonderful shape! I think gray is such a pretty color on those! Too bad we never got that color scheme over here. I'm lucky enough to have an Innovation, without the tools on board. It's a good cleaner...pretty quiet. I love the smell of the air freshener!

But the cord-winder on mine finally gave out, so it no longer retracts. :-(
I'm keeping my eyes on the lookout for a donor machine. But I'm dreading working on it; I hear they're a nightmare to take apart and fix...

Thanks for sharing the pictures! I've only ever once seen a Sovereign... and it was in Tom Anderson's collection.

Hi Fred

Cheers for the compliments on mine and rob's turbos. Certainly one hell of a variety of colours!

Soft lilac of the U2566 is a personal favourite of mine...

and then there is Aubergine of the U2872...

You mention your innovation! Would that be the U5045 at all?

That model perplexes me as, rather weirdly, its listed on Hoover UK's service and spares site! To the best of my knowledge its never been sold in the UK (I really hope it never has, as that would mean another version to try and find!).

Also, if you happen to know, what is the model number of the softbag US innovation shown below? never been able to find out.

Cheers
paul

... for I had the same thing happen to me with a Viking 507 (which you might know as an Electrolux 560) that I recently bought on eBay! When it arrived the handle was completely smashed: the result of poor packing. I wish more sellers would realise just how valuable the items they sell are to their buyers and pack them accordingly.

James,

Horrible. Just Horrible. Luckily, I haven't had too many problems with EBay shippers. In fact only once did something I won was messed up. When I contacted them they made every effort to remedy the problem - BUT it was the postal service that gave me all the headache. After that, I just gave up. It doesn't look as if you will be very lucky either seeing how they packed it. Just didn't care I guess....

Sorry.

Question for all you British folks. Not knocking it, just wondering - does the Crown appear on everything sold/made there? I always see it somewhere on all of your pictures.

Rick

Rick, I think the royal warrant just appeared on Hoover and Electrolux appliances. I think it might have to do with them being British made. Obviously, they don't have it now.

Those are some nice machines... of course I like the soft obag models better.

I was lucky enough to find one on Craig's List. I got some attachments with it, and then found the full set on Ebay for something crazy like 99 cents with box! Mine also came with the manual and ORIGINAL JC Penny's receipt! The brushroll didn't spin well at first, but I changed the belts and it worked well. Mine is a Model U4423..... took me 45 minutes to find the silly model number, they didn't put it in a logical place like the back or bottom... instead, it was on the back of the motor hood. I used mine for the first time with the new belts the other night, and WOW... so powerful... it pulled itself across the carpet and had a really good feel. I really enjoyed using it. I just wish the handle release wasn't broken.... it won't stay in an upright position :o(

Vacuums killed by shipping!

I have bought a lot of vacuums off Ebay lately, I have noticed the vacuums I have bought from other vacuum collectors have been packed well and have arrived undamaged. I have noticed things that are shipped through the post office are really damaged a lot. But if I tell the seller that if they ship through the post office to pack the machines very well and so far the box is beat up but the machine is fine. I recently bought a very nice Hoover Model 700 all original, it even had it's Instruction manual with it. Well they shipped it by the post office and when I got it The machine was fine except the belt cover on the bottom of the machine was missing.I know it was there in the Ebay ad because I saw it. Well there was a big hole in the box, and I am assuming it fell out of the box in transit. I emailed the Ebay seller and asked them if they were sure they sent it with the vacuum and they said it was all there when shipped. Well you know that part can never be replaced, unless I happen to find one on a junk machine.. If anybody has an extra one laying around please let me know... Dan
