Well my dad had two emergency calls tonight, so I decided to go with him. Sometimes I find some stuff. The first house was a lady in her 20's, and as always, I bring up my vacuums if we get to talking. She said she had to Kirbys, one she used, and a fifteen year old one in her basement that she did not use. Of course I asked if she would get rid of it and she said sure. So I scored another G5! Unfortunately, the handle was a replacement, along with the cord, and the bottom cord clip was broken. The power nozzle also does not include the light that tells you in the brushroll is spinning. It is just simply not there. I took some parts off of my parts G5, and replaced the handle. I didn't have a new cord, or cord clip. Luckily the replacement cord is a genuine Kirby replacement cord. But when the cleaner is off and in neutral, the handle moves like drive is on, and the wheels click, but it allows you to move it freely. When it is on and neutral is on, it the transmission buzzes, and the handle continues to move, but the wheels do not click. But when the cleaner is on, and drive is engaged, it works fine. It is just a little weak, the belt probably just needs replaced. The handle is also wobbly. I will most likely just sell it for a cheap price.
Next house, was a lady in her 60's or 70's and her mom who was 95. I saw in the hallway a new Platinum bagless. She invited me to sit down while my dad worked, and asked what my hobbies were. Once again, of course I told her about my vacuums. And her exact words were "Awww I love you now you little odd one." She told me to go in the garage and anything I find I could have. She said there should be at least two vacuums. She said I could look in the basement as well. There were absolutely no vacuums in the basement. But I went in the garage and the 95 year old lady's Hoover Convertible was sitting in there. It is just a blue BOL model. I still really like it though, rough shape, but I can clean it up. I didn't find the other one, she said it was newer, and I could come back anytime and look for it. She also said she wished I knew her a few years ago. Her parents got a brown Hoover in 1942 for their wedding. She then inherited the vacuum, and used it until 4 years ago, when she said it finally died. She then threw it out. I was upset it was gone, but I'm guessing it was a 28, which I have, so I am not that disappointed. I thought I would share my finds!
