Well, I have to say good-bye to the oldest vacuum in my collection. I used my Oreck tonight because I hadn't used it in a while. I put it back on the nail on the wall where I keep it (no room on the floor) and went to clean the kitchen. A few moments later, I heard a crash. I looked, and to my horror, the Oreck had fallen off the wall and smashed the motor hood of the Hoover 28 all to pieces. I NEVER used the Hoover 28 anyway (though it ran like a top) because it had lots of problems... bag full of holes, handle grip cracked, handle wiggled from side to side, motor hood was loose because thread screws had been stripped.... not to mention the scratches on the motor hood and base. I've had it since I was 19 and it was given to me for free, it will be sad to say good-bye. It wasn't the first vacuum in my collection (that was the Concept 1, which I still love), but it was by far the oldest. I wonder what to replace it with? Maybe I can find one that is in much better shape that I will actually be able to enjoy using and just use parts from this one if the "new" one needs anything. I guess I should at least keep the brushroll and light bulb :o) I guess I should be glad it didn't smash the Innovation as rare as they are. Imagine, a study, time tested beast being smashed to pieces by a loud power nozzle on a pole! LOL

I'm sorry to hear that. I hate throwing away any of my vacuums, so I know how you feel.

I would not throw it away, try and find some new parts such as a hood and bag for it, I know that vac shops carry replacement bags, and as far as the hood goes something will turn up
