Back in December my mom's boyfriend said his mom had a "Pig" Vacuum in her basement, from when he was a kid. He said it was puke green color. So obviously I knew it was a Compact. He said he was sure it was done there, and he knew exactly where it was. He said there was also a broken gray Tri Star as well down there. So today, finally, we were in the area, and he said we could stop and get them. After about 15 minutes of searching in her basement, through everything, (small basement), we could not find them. We also checked the garage, all the storage rooms, attic, and all the closets throughout the house. All that was left was the Compact Power Nozzle, in place of where the vacuum used to sit. So that's all I walked out of her house with. BUT, we had to make a stop at his empty house to pick up a few things, which is about a mile away. There I found something I have been wanting for a few years. A Dirt Devil Platinum Force Upright. Before he said it was just a Windtunnel, so I had no interest. Apparently he was wrong though. This vacuum is amazing. The dirt container was literally filled to the top when I saw it. Of course I plugged it in, and even with the container full, the suction was still outstanding, so then I turned the brushroll on, and this thing just took off on the wood floor. So since the Compact and Tri Star failed to be there, I did get something else I wanted, along with a power nozzle I needed!

so, who's done with vacuums?

Hey there.... glad you found something you wanted, that is always nice. Personally, I never liked the Platinum Force vacuums. They looked cool, but when I sold vacuums at Sears, the people always brought them back with broken "lifetime" belts or broken plastic parts. Plus the handle seemed flimsy. The dirt bin was hard to remove and required the entire cord to be removed. But, I did like the foot pedal height adjustment and the little window for the numbers.... on of the few uprights to offer that canister like feature. I thought the Platinum Force hand vac was great with the slide off power nozzle for easy maneuverability... and it was electrically power unlike its red successors that were turbine powered. I know lots of peopled loved the Platinum Force extractor which was just like the Royal version. I wish they had made a power nozzle canister to complete the series.

The Dirt Devil I always wanted (besides the broom vac which I finally got) was the Cruiser. The chrome and blue looked awesome, and it was self-propelled. I don't think they were popular though.

Glad you found something you wanted, and I bet the Compact will turn up eventually. Now, WHO is done with vacuums young man?

The Cruiser.... so pretty!:

I tried a Cruiser at a resale shop over the summer. It is a pretty good vacuum, but rather loud. The self propel was pretty strong though. I'm sure you'll get one, my motto is: "If you wait you shall recieve" and its worked for a long time now
