But I wasn't listening and wasn't going to leave this nice Panasonic Jet Flo canister languishing all alone when I can clean it up and play with it.. Not that I have much carpet left but some. Just needs a good wash and a new nozzle belt.
I like the pushbuttons on top which remind me of Chads Eureka, for curtains, furniture etc etc.. The power nozzle only operates on the Rug and the Carpet buttons and it's pretty quiet especially on the lower speeds.

Hey thats the vac.......

that my mom had when I was growing up, that is the vac that got me into vacs. But because I am only 13 we still have it sitting in storage, the electric wire in the hose has a short in it. Seeing this picture makes me sorta sad.

Hey Pete - pretty Panasonic!

When you get the chance, can you figure out how they got the brush roller in the power nozzle to reverse direction each time you changed direction (forward verses backward?). For the life of me, I can't figure out how they could pull that off without an intricate gear mechanism. :-)

Hey Scott! Big hug to you...know the feeling when parents cut you off from playing with a favourite vac! Happened to me all the time when I was younger and living at home. Just make sure they don't throw out the vac, and it will be waiting for you when the right time comes!

Brian, this isn't the reversing one , would be nice though.

Great Panasonic canister!

I wouldn't say no to it either. I have some fancy footwook to do with the machines that are here now though.

Never say no!

Pete, that looks like a beautiful machine, there is just no way you could have just left it there!!! Good for you!! I bet with a good floor brush it will work great on your new hardwood too.

Terry

NO

You missunderstood eureka princess the storage I refered to we got for my vacuums. They did not cut me off the powerbrush does not work. The 2010 convention is being planed by my mom and I.Thank you for your simpathy but I was refering to the fact that my childhood vac is sitting in a hot, crampt storage area never to work again . I am not trying to make you gelous but my parents support my hobbie.

The brush reversing mechanism.....

is controlled by a very small switch, more like an actuator. The elbow on the Dual sweep power nozzle was designed to have a small amount of free play movement when being pushed and pulled. It's this free play that hits the switch in one direction when pushed, and hits the switch in the opposite direction when pulled, which reverses the brush. I think it's pretty interesting for a power nozzle. I always liked this machine. During the last few years that it was sold in the U.S., Panasonic replaced the canister motor with one that didn't have that "Jet-Flo" sound. Their older canisters were so nice and quiet.
