Well, i tried out the Celebrity QS,,and i HATE it. Guess Im just not a Hoover man,,every Hoover vacuum cleaner ive ever used ive hated it. Its just me, i know they are (or were) great vacuums.
If anyone has a Kirby, Tristar,or Lux of equal value(in good usable working condition, not pristene)that they would like to trade, or if anyone wants to buy the Celebrity outright,,let me know!

Just out of curiosity, what didn't you like about it? I've never used one; just seen pics of them.

Well, I have an older orange and brown one, I'm gonna guess that the short hose with no swivel joints at either end, and the noise of the machine (it's pretty loud) are some of the reasons why he doesn't like it.

However....the machine is pretty powerful, and definitely fun since it floats!

Oh sorry, i should have specified. Its a Hoover Celebrity QS with PN,,im assuming from the early 1980s,,it has the chrome top with a green rim, and blue bottom. Has the hi/lo switch, and bag guard light. Has the Hoover Quadraflex PN, with the brush roll on/off switch.
No other attachments. Hose is in excellent condition,,not a ding or scratch on the machine itself,,PN has the usual dings, will possibly need a new brush roll in future, belt sounds a little weak, but still grooms the carpet nicely. Does have excellent suction, very powerful.
Reason's i dont like it - The bag wont stay on the rubber coupler inside the machine. Dont know what to do about this,,yes, im sure im using the right bag.
The foam motor filter can only be changed by taking the motor apart. The machine itself gets easily hung up on doorways, furniture, ect.
The corwinder wont lock,,cord wont stay out. The entire machine is just awkward to use (for me anyway)

I bought it because ive always admired this particular Hoover,,and thought maybe this one particular Hoover would be THE one for me. WRONG!

IF anyone is interested in buying or trading,,let me know!

BTW,,its not a floater,,it does have wheels on the bottom. Yes, it is loud,,but not screaming loud. Iam impressed with the suction,, even on the low speed, thats the most pull ive ever felt of from a Hoover.
Just dont like it in general,,,i'll take my Kirby Heritage 2,Central Vac, or TriStar CXL any day.
Oh well,,,at least i tried!

I also have a few Hoover celebrities, and my favorite is still the early versions that floated,,without wheels. I think the newer chrome topped "QS" series anything but quiet. I think most people keep them as memories of the 70's,,, When everything was in bright colors, and usualy with huge wheels somehwere on the body to make you think it could travel anywhere with ease.

I agree about the short hoses on the Celebrities. Very annoying. Which was why I did this with mine:

(I also didn't like the attachments that came with it - the seemed cheap and flimsy to me.)

The Celebrity II is more than powerful enough to support a long hose, so this worked just fine.

Plus, the machine was not screaming right behind me; I was able to keep it at a distance from me!
