picked up this noce looking Dimension 1000 for $10.50 with college Discount as the orig price was 12.99. all I can say about it is, Dang this thing has a lot of power and now I understand why people love them so much.
it also looks to be in excellent shape, With the help of the Magic Eraser and some wax this machine will shine again.

I am wondering how rare these are as people tell m that they are hard to find, but all in all I want to get a pack of bags for it clean it up and start using it.

Yay! Dimension 1000!

I think part of the reason they're hard to find is that many are probably still in use!
Or if they're now starting to die, people aren't getting them serviced/fixed. It's been almost 20 years, I'd say, since the Dimension was last manufactured.

I think it's hands down the best canister vacuum Hoover ever made.

I have always liked that blue model, without the electronic control. I remember my 5th grade teacher had one, and he brought it into school a few times when we had to do some sort of project in the classroom that created a mess. I, of course, volunteered to be the one to vacuum....

Looks great, congrats on the find, Mike. That's a powerful, but delicate power nozzle.... baby it because the plastic sure gets brittle on those. Is that a G5 with a G3 bag in the background young man?

Post# 94615 , Reply# 9   3/26/2010 at 23:40 (5,116 days old) by electroluxxxx (……)

well bobby I must confess it indeed is a G5 with a G3 bag, cord and handle grip. the G5 was a dump find and the machine itself works flawlessly. I have yet to clean it up. as far as the Dimension goes... I love it. tried it out today and apparently it needs a new belt, other than that it is going to be cleaned up this weekend with a fresh pack of Style M Hoover bags, and a Genuine Hoover belt

mine

I have the manual and everything. I bought it for a small fortune because I just had to have it my mom had one just like it when I was growing up and I just about destroyed it. She actually used to lock it away from me.

Matt, that machine looks good anyway, but it's ultra sexy in black. Wow! I need a cigarette after that picture and I don't even smoke! LOL

Mike, I also forgot to say how great it is that you found one with all the attachments, especially at a thrift store.... that is a rare find indeed and the attachments are such an important part!

Ooooh....Hoover's evil competitor to Eureka's Expres

eurekaprince's profile picture
Lovely machine.....and a worthy competitor to the Express in the 1980's. I think both vacs were top-rated by Consumer Reports at the time.

The thing that made the Dimension better in my opinion was that, unlike the Express, it stores the bare floor brush on board with the other tools!

I like the Express also. I did have 2 at one point, then one became an organ donor and the other I gave to someone who couldnt at the time afford a vacuum. Both vacs were purchased 1988, I got them in 1994,and the one was still good untill 07 or 08!

OMG Fred that Dimention looks like new. Its true about those M bags, the some of the K bags are worse.

I have a blue one too turned light green

I bought mine used and before my time or the previous owners it have some exposure to sun or fluorescent light and looks more like a Andes Mint than blue.
