I just LOVE any swivel top...I found this in Lenoir, a family moved from up North and brought this with them....the date on the motor is Oct 55...Thanks to Tania for the instruction book, dolly and tools, I had never seen one of these or even heard of Thompson and Sons, they were not sold in the south.

Nice Jet 99, and I especially love the Silver Knight! If I remember right it was a more popular priced model that sold next to the TOL Silver King. There actually was a Silver King store in Mansfield when I was a kid and they offered both machines.
I also remember our former next door neighbors who moved to a farm when I was about 4. Shortly after they moved, they bought a new Silver Knight and showed it to us the next time we visited with them. Unfortunately, they lost it and everything else in a house fire a couple years later.

Beautiful machine Hans!!! That vaporizer is really interesting. Was this used for medical purposes?

????

I dont know Terry, but it is a funny contraption, you put oil of whatever...I think eucalyptus on it,plug it in to the outlet on the side of the cleaner, let it get hot, then there is a slot in the side that you turn to the blower, when you do air is forced thru the body and a cloud of vapor comes out,I mean a VISIBLE cloud...everyone who sees it howls with laughter!

Thanks for the information Hans. It would seem that maybe it was for medical purposes then. You know like you use to put Vicks in a steam vaporizer. Terry

Last I knew they were still around and had a website as well. Think it was SilverKing.com but I'm not sure. And their plant is no longer in Illinois, but Kansas or Nebraska if I remember right.

"SILVER KNIGHT"

Hello everyone out there in Vacuumland !

This is the "Silver Knight" and "Silver King" expert!
That was a gizmoe called the "Vaporizoer" which was attached to the exhaust port and would send glycol vapor into the air for Purification. It was very effective back in the 1940s'/50s' ...That was Thompson and Sons' invention and they were located in Lyons, IL from 1940-1987 when they sold out to Craig Leerburg in Colorado Springs, CO . "Silver King" is now manufactued there and they only make the Professional model -73B-2....Very Powerful Machine!!
