I'm curious as to what models were the rug and floor tools in the VOD pic used? The pic looks like they might have been a polished metal, were they? I've seen them in a matte painted finish before but never bare metal. Anyone know if they were as effective as the standard Compact tools?

Rick, Filtex made the rug and floor tools for Compact for i think two models only. I've seen the matte finish also but not the shiney blue ones.

BTW, take a closer look at the model! Notice "her" really long legs and big feet! And "her" ADAM'S APPLE!! Compact had a drag queen pose for this Compact owmers manual cover;-)

Where do you think I got that name? This is a ad with a story! Marty you are right. The story goes that they had a model all lined up for this photo shoot. She didn't show and they had to go hunting quickly for a new model since they didn't want to spend more money resetting up the shoot. The story goes that they found this gal (?!?) on Santa Monica Blvd and here she is. I don't know if they knew that she was a guy, but your observations are very astute!

Those attachments have often been confused with Filtex, but having looked at both, side by side, they are not the same, though similar in design. The Compact attachments were not shiny, as shown on the owner's manual in VOD, but a matching turquoise wrinkle finish, as on the Compact itself. I would say, as an educated guess that the attachments, at least the rug and floor tools were air-brushed into the picture. The actual attachments were probably planned, but not yet actually available at the time of the photo shoot. And, yes that is a drag queen. Harold Shoetller, then president of Interstate, told a now exiled VCCC member (at a VDTA convention in Las Vegas) how the model from the modeling agency didn't show up for the photo shoot for the manual, so his assistant thought they could save a few bucks by going down to Santa Monica Blvd. and picking up a hooker instead. And what a hooker they got!
